Ohio is going to defeat the radical left Democrats once again.
And we're going to elect John Husted to the United States Senate.
He's a great guy.
Crowds began lining up very early Saturday morning with food trucks and merchandisers
also hawking their wares outside the rally all day.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Husted to the Senate last year
to take the place of former Senator J.D. Vance after he became vice president.
He's running to keep his job against Democrat Sherrod Brown
who spent nearly 20 years in the Senate himself
before losing his seat to Bernie Marino two years ago.
The most recent polls this week give Brown a slight edge,
especially among undecided voters.
The race is seen as pivotal for both parties as they vie for control of the Senate,
which Trump addressed in a speech that also included a long string of positive claims about the economy.
We're going to win strong in the Republican majorities in the House and the Senate.
And we are going to have a great success.
Husted also spoke before the president took the stage,
going after his opponent Brown on immigration policy
before exhorting the crowd to get out and vote.
I am not asking you to winter at Valley Forge.
I am not asking you to serve at Gettysburg.
I am not asking you to storm the beaches of Normandy.
I am asking you to get out and vote. Will you do it?
As Husted ended, he was joined by college football teammate and NFL Super Bowl coach John Gruden
who fired up the crowd even further.
With the president facing low approval ratings overall,
especially when it comes to the Iran war and his tariff policies,
I asked Husted this before the rally.
How do you think this rally is going to help you in your campaign
given headwinds that the Trump administration is facing right now?
Well, President Trump won Ohio by 11 points just two years ago.
If the people that turned out in that election turn out in this election, we'll win.
Trump also reiterated his promise that all adults will get $5,000 a piece
if the GOP retains control of both the House and the Senate,
saying income from tariffs and new investment will help pay the $1 trillion price tag.
The visit also came as Ohio registration ends
and early in-person voting begins next week statewide
with many of those speaking asking voters to cast their ballots as soon as Tuesday.
In Vandalia, Ohio, James Pilcher reporting.
His opponent Sharon Brown's campaign responded to the Republican rally and wrote,
John Husted voted 14 times to continue the war in Iran
that has sent the cost of gas and diesel to record highs.
He led the charge to bring 226 data centers to Ohio
with $2.5 billion in sweetheart tax deals
and he cast the deciding vote to cut half a million Ohioans health care.
John Husted puts corporations and billionaires first every time and we all pay for it.
While Senator Husted was at the Republican rally,
Sharon Brown was also out this weekend campaigning.
These are tweets from his ex account showing him in Lima yesterday with the caption,
I'm in this fight to lower costs and help hardworking Ohioans get ahead.
Brown also posted photos of him in Toledo and at Bowling Green State University.
The midterm elections are now just under a month away on November 3rd.
And if you're planning to vote here in Ohio, voter registration closes tomorrow.
So here's how you can still register.
You can go to the website VoteOhio.gov and register online.
Or if you prefer in person, you can stop at the Ohio Secretary of State's office,
any of Ohio's 88 county board of elections offices,
a Ohio BMV location or county treasurer's office.
