AI GeneratedThis video showcases a high-performance G80 M3 build capable of 1200 bhp using a massive single turbo conversion. The focus is on balancing extreme power with daily drivability, detailing the specific mechanical upgrades, fueling systems, and tuning strategies used to achieve these numbers while maintaining a stock-like feel on the road.
Behind me we have a monster of a build. We have a G8 EM3 with a huge single turbo. This is the latest
turbo smart turbo on the market and it's an absolute monster. This thing spools up so quick
that I'm not even noticing that I've got a big turbo instead of the stock hybrids and daily
driving it feels amazing. But not only that, it pumps out 1200 bhp. Yeah 1200 brake on this setup.
So it's been a little while since I put a video out and if you haven't noticed the workshop's
now changed. The dyno area is fully built and we're about a week away from opening up our
mechanical side and while that's been going on we've been creating this monster. So we've built
the engine in-house, we've built the gearbox in-house, we've done the fueling system, we've
also added on methane injection, we've done the mapping and our friends over at Overkill have
supplied us with this single turbo manifold and turbo kit. Building a 1200 brake G8 is one thing
but making it completely drivable like stock on the road was another complete challenge altogether.
So we're very careful with the parts that we did and didn't use on this car. For example it's got
no ARP head studs. They don't need to be re-tooled. We haven't made any modifications to the PCV system
so you don't get an oily smell when you're driving. We haven't changed the torque converter which
gives loads of slip when pulling away although amazing for when you want to use launch control.
So we've picked and choosed, we've got the bits that we needed to make the 1200 brake so
built engine, built box, huge turbo, amazing fuel system but we're very careful when it comes to
things like the drivetrain. So you need to brace the drivetrain, you need to strengthen it but if
you go overkill with it then you're going to get a ton of harshness and vibration and although our
1500 brake GAT is a road car and I do use it as a daily because of the bracing and because of the
carbon seats that we've got it doesn't drive like a standard car where this one honestly if you
looked at it and you got in it and I didn't put my foot down in it you would have no idea that this
thing is hiding 1200 brake horsepower. So let's talk about this big 1200 brake. Well actually there's
a load of other numbers behind it. 1200 brake is when it's running on ethanol but we have also
and a combination of 99.1 and methanol. So on 99.1 only this is making 850 bhp which is still crazy
for a daily driver but it gives us a ton of reliability and 99.1 isn't actually the greatest
fuel out there so you do lose a lot of power when compared to race fuels but adding that methanol
and it's a game changer. Instead of us being capped at 850 we've increased the power to close
to 1100 brake horsepower and with that 1100 brake he can use that daily. In the boot is a methanol
tank, inside the car is a meth controller that can be switched on and off so if he wants to drive
at 850 brake or 1100 brake he's got it there every day of the week. This car utilizes our 1769 same
day unlock and also we're flashing the gearbox via the 1769 app as well. For the engine it's running
on mhd and that also controls the reflex controller which works as our port injection system
and as a boost controller. This car same day unlock and yeah it has all of these modifications on it
so if you're wondering if you can get more or less out of the same day unlock the answer is
you can run everything on that system.
Fueling is where we take no chances. On this we've got six 1050x injectors from Injector Dynamics
and we've got an additional two Walbro fuel pumps in the tank. Yep that means it's got three fuel
pumps, it's got 12 injectors and it's actually also got seven methanol injectors on this as well.
So when it comes to fueling we've got loads. We have done some modifications on the vanos system
as well so for you guys that are in the know you'll know when you try to push big power on these
it's easy for the vanos to deviate. If you watch my previous videos you would have seen us talking
about converting over to a single high pressure pump, capping down the DI. Well in the end we
ended up putting in a partial lock in the vanos cams which still allows us some movement but when
on full power and high boost we no longer have to worry about our vanos deviating from target.
How does 1200 brake correlate in real world conditions? So with this car here we're expecting
around a 3.5 to 3.6 hundred to 200 and a high eight second quarter mile if it's got enough
traction to get it off the line. We've done a lot of work on these single turbos developing the
anti-lag, the launch control, the boost by gear and lots of other bits in the background that stop
the car getting upset when it's running high power and when it comes to a car like this now driving
in to get a single turbo conversion we can be happy in the fact that we know that we've already
produced the numbers on our own car and we've worked for all the niggles that are involved in
trying to create something that's running this kind of boost. Deciding whether you're going to
do hybrids or a single turbo is a decision that a lot of people get caught up on. Hybrids much
much easier to fit, much easier to map, you can get them running really well without doing much
to the car. If you're looking to go say over 1100 brake I would always push towards doing a single
turbo from our own shop car running hybrids and running on a single turbo we've got to see the
limits of both setups and honestly with a single turbo you're limited by everything other than the
turbo so as long as you build the engine the box and you get the fuel system right as long as you're
doing all the supporting mods these single turbos can literally make as much power as you want.
When it comes to the hybrids they generate a lot more heat so yes they do spool up, yes they are
cheaper and yes they are quick to install and they honestly they're amazing. If you've got a track car
or you don't want to have any impact on daily driving a hybrid can give you a ton of extra
power without any compromise. If you just want the car to be as fast as it can be I would actually
say that single turbo is the way to do it and plus if you're a big kid like me they make really cool
noises. Last night I'm editing our 1200 brake video and I realized I never finished it I got
so carried away with the dyno runs that I stopped it there well that customer took that car nearly
two months ago he's got just over 1200 brake he's absolutely loving it and since he picked it up we
haven't seen him again but anyway behind me we've got a nice orange G80 M3 this has had Mosserman
turbos and meth injection it's got daily 900 brake yes it is still a stock engine is still
a stock gearbox and he can go to 800 brake on just 99 as well. At the beginning of our video
I was saying that our workshop was going to be opening up soon that is now open so let's have a
look this is our gearbox and engine building area this is where we get other companies and customers
send us gearboxes for stage one and stage two conversions and it's also where we build engines
we have a look over here we've got some cool fancy stuff like grillo rods CP pistons reflex
controllers we've got blocks for vanos we've got big fuel systems all ready to go and to put on
customers cars actually next week we're going to be starting an 1100 brake x3m build and a lot of
that is going to be going on over here here's the mechanical area Ryan can often be found
hiving away over here this is where our turbos our gearboxes our meth systems all get installed
in that corner over there was the engine part that I was just showing you and whether you're
coming in for a big single build or you're getting a mid-pipe this is normally where the work starts
next door where the video started is our mapping part but it's lovely now to have this new building
with so much more space and extra ramps next week we'll have that x3m in we're going to be
building up to 1100 brake I'm hoping to document that process for you guys so if you're not already
following us and keeping up to date with what we're doing then make sure you do but for now
thank you for watching and bye
