Joining us to make the case for keeping Republicans in the majority, the Speaker of the House,
Mike Johnson, who joins us live from Pennsylvania. Mr. Speaker, welcome into the Scott Jennings Show.
Scott, so good to be with you and great to hear your very important voice in these times, my friend.
Well, good to hear your voice and good to know you're in Pennsylvania. A number of races going
on out there. I think you are hitting several districts today. Why don't you start with giving
us an update on your travels throughout Pennsylvania today?
Thanks, brother. Yes, we are on the campaign trail. We're 28 days away from the most important
midterm in the history of America. That is not campaign rhetoric. Everybody knows this is real
contrast election. So between now and Election Day, I'm going to be in 40 more districts across
22 states. I mean, I've been doing this all year. We've got much more to do. And today I'm doing
events, campaign events in five cities across Pennsylvania, a very important state for us.
I have been with Congressman Scott Perry and Brian Fitzpatrick already today, and I'm headed to
Ryan McKenzie and Rob Bresnahan's districts. And we feel very, very bullish about this election.
You've been traveling all over the country, Mr. Speaker. You've been meeting voters everywhere.
What are you hearing from the people out there? Obviously, economy, affordability,
these are the top issues in all the polls. But I'm interested in your direct conversations.
When you're out there talking to voters, what are they telling you?
Well, if people get it, okay, they understand the stakes are so high. They understand this is a
midterm unlike any other. This one really does decide the fate of the country. And Scott,
if somebody had told you and I 10 years ago that on the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation
in the history of the world in November of 2026 in a midterm election, we would have the decision
before the American people on whether we're going to keep the republic or go down this dark,
dangerous road to communism. I would have rejected that thought. You would have as well. None of us
could have foreseen this, but here we are. And that's exactly what we're facing and what I'm
seeing with my own eyes, okay? I'm just gonna suggest to you, you can disregard all the
national polling. It has been inaccurate for many cycles in a row. We all know that.
They're oversampling Democrats and they're undersampling Republicans through Republican
voters cuz they don't respond to polls anymore. And some of them are beginning to admit that,
Pew Research admitted that a couple of weeks ago. So set this polling aside. What I'm seeing with
my own eyes and I'm going in swing districts and the places where we're in very bad races,
there's an energy on the ground. There's an understanding that people know what's at stake
and they are not willing to turn our country over to the Marxist. And I feel very, very good about
this. We're seeing energy excitement. We have a fundraising advantage. We have a far superior
candidate in the field and a great record to run on. You put all that together, I think we're gonna
have a great adventure. Regarding the debate that's being had on the economy out there,
I think Republicans ought to really think about leaning in here because I think Democrats have
gotten away with a great farce during this election cycle, which is that the prices that
people are mad about have anything to do with Donald Trump at all. Most of the price increases
that people are mad about happened on Democrats' watch. President, according to the latest USDA
data, has largely tamed food and grocery inflation rates. But all these price increases came under
Democratic rule and now Democrats are asking for people to put them back in charge. Do you
feel like our Republican candidates are leaning into that debate and trying to remind voters
there's two parties, two visions, and you gotta remember who put us here in the first place?
Exactly right. And they are. And I'm telling you, in the 22 districts, more or less,
they're going to decide the fate of the Republic and the majority in the House. These candidates
are making this case very effectively. And they're leading with the facts, Scott. You're
exactly right. Republicans inherited a gigantic mess in every metric of public policy. After four
years of Biden-Harris, we had to fix the Democrat failures. I mean, from wide-open borders to
four-year-high 9.1% inflation to $5 gasoline. We know the job's not done, but look at the record
of what we've been able to accomplish. I mean, even with our razor-thin majority in the House
and with obstructionist Democrats trying to stop us at every turn. Remember,
they shut down the federal government for 120 days just in the last, this cycle,
last 18, 19 months. That's a record. In spite of all that, we have delivered common sense wins.
And the big achievement, of course, the $4.6 trillion in tax cuts delivered. It's the largest
middle- and working-class tax cut ever. We cut $1.6 trillion in rooting out fraud and waste
spending. We have reversed all these Biden-era massive regulations that were burdensome and
defied common sense and hurt the economy. Scott, we cut tax on tips and overtime and social security
and put more money in everybody's pocket. Thousands of dollars, depending on what state you're in,
huge benefits for working families. We got the lowest violent crime rate in 126 years.
We have the most secure border in a half-century. We haven't had a single illegal alien released in
the country in over 16 straight months. We got Trump accounts for every child. We had the first
ever nationwide school choice program. The biggest drop in prescription drug prices in 60 years.
We got companies bringing manufacturing back to America. And we added a million private sector
jobs. Inflation has held steady. It needs to come down further. We have the policies in place to do
it. The wages are going up. We have more Americans working right now than in generations. Everything's
moving in the right direction. And the idea that we would turn that right now over to a bunch of
socialists is crazy talk. I mean, they're a solution to everything, as you know. You smoke
them out on TV all the time. They just want to grow government. They want government to control
every aspect of your lives and provide you with everything. You have to give up your freedom for
that to happen, and it leads to human misery and suffering every time it's tried in history. That
is not who we are as Americans. That voice you're hearing, the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson,
who's out driving around Pennsylvania today campaigning to retain a Republican majority
in the House. And we're grateful for his time today. Mr. Speaker, I want to hone in on the
issue of immigration. I know everybody sort of wants to say maybe this is solved and this has
fallen down the list of things that people care about. But I'm not so sure, because I think this
issue is one of the starkest differences between the two parties. Republicans closed the border.
Republicans are trying to get rid of violent, illegal aliens out of the country. And Democrats
have the literal exact opposite position. Open the border and keep everyone here. And on top of
that, put as many on welfare as possible. Do you still see the immigration differences between the
two parties as being potent in the debate over the next month? It is. And the reason we're enjoying
those lowest ever violent crime rates, 126 years, is because we came back and restored common sense.
We brought that back to the rule of law, these basic principles that have been part of the
world over 250 years. We had to get back to it. The barbarians on the other side are inside the
gate. Remember when Reagan and previous generations of leaders used to warn us about
Marxist and that philosophy, they were talking about a threat on a distant shore.
We have these people now running for Congress, and they've won primaries around the country.
And some of them are going to be elected to the House, okay? They put their policy and platform
ideas on paper, and it's exactly what we just said. Scott, the DSA, Democrat Socialist of
America, that's who's guiding the Democrat Party now in Washington. They want to abolish the border,
police, and prisons, okay? They want mass amnesty for anybody who can claw their way across the
border. They make no exception for dangerous criminals, murderers, rapists, child traffickers.
It's immaterial because they don't believe in borders at all. They would shred the Constitution.
They want to defund the Department of War. The very elements that maintain the rule of law and
keep crime low and your streets safer, they want to defund. We can't do that. And when you put that
stark contrast in front of the people, they make the right choice. Another thing Reagan used to
remind us, you can trust the American people. When they are given the facts, they will do the right
thing. And that's our challenge right now, is to make sure the facts are out there, understanding
that the mainstream media is advancing the cause of the Democrats and the false narrative every
single day. That voice you're hearing, the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. We'll have more with
him in just a moment. He's joining us live from the road in Pennsylvania today. Quick word from

More with the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. When we come back, it's Scott Jennings on Salem.
Stay with us. These campaigns out fighting the fight is the Speaker of the House,
Mike Johnson. He's in Pennsylvania. He joins us live here on the Scott Schenning Show.
Mr. Speaker, I want to paint a little bit of a bleak picture here. Let's say, and I'm not sure
it's going to happen, but let's say Democrats and Hakeem Jeffries take over the House next year. How
sure are you that they would immediately move to impeach President Trump? It's guaranteed,
probably on the first day, first or second day. Remember, they've already filed articles of
impeachment in this Congress. I mean, they're raring to go. And that's what you could expect.
This is not going to happen. Let's just paint this alternative world, okay? Because I'm convinced,
Scott, we can hold this majority, okay? It's not going to be a giant majority, but we'll hold it,
defy history and do it. It's only happened twice in 90 years that a sitting president's picked up
seats for his party in that first two-year cycle. But we're the team that defies history and makes
history all the time. So I think we'll do it. But let's say we didn't, heaven forbid, okay?
The radical left, the insurgent left that has taken over the Democrat Party would also take
over the agenda. They would not be even working to pass legislation because, of course, President
Trump would remain in the White House. They would turn every committee of Congress into an
investigative body. Impeachment would just be the start, my friend. They would go after and
investigate every waking hour, the president, the first family, his cabinet, donors of the party.
They'll go after leaders of industry and business. I mean, it will be lawfare on steroids unlike
anything we've ever seen. And you have to ask yourself, if you're a voter, what would that
mean for your family? That turmoil in Congress would roil the markets. It would unwind all the
great strides and all the foundation we put in place to make the economy keep growing and take
off like a rocket. And it would empower our enemies around the world at the most dangerous time.
We cannot do that. And that is exactly what you would get under Democrat leadership in the House.
And that's why we've got to hold it for common sense.
Let's talk about our enemies around the world, specifically our enemy, Iran.
Their economy is obviously spiraling out of control. Their currency is worthless. Their
military is defeated. Their navy is at the bottom of the ocean. Their neighbors in the Middle East
are allied against them. They haven't exported a drop of oil since mid-July. It's apparent the
United States has won the battle of the Strait of Hormuz, yet I hear Democrats every day,
calling on the United States of America to surrender to Iran. Why can't Democrats accept
that Donald Trump was right and that the United States has defeated the Iranians here and that
the oil is flowing and that we're safer because of it? Because Trump derangement syndrome clouds
their judgment on everything. I talked to the president a couple nights ago. I said,
Mr. President, if you came out tonight and announced a cure to cancer, good news,
America, we have cured cancer. We just need Congress to codify one section of law. I think
every Democrat in Congress would vote against the cure to cancer because they just don't want him
to get any credit or a win for anything. That's why they've obstructed everything in this Congress
already, and yet we have this great record. But with regard to Iran, you have to remember,
it's not just a Republican objective. It has been the objective of every administration for
the last 50 years almost that we could not have Iran with a nuclear weapon. They're the largest
state sponsor of terrorism. That would be a threat to freedom of Americans, the safety and security
of Americans, and, of course, our allies around the world. When it got so close to nuclear
capability, the president had no choice in the matter. We had to take that action.
The Operation Epic Fury was an epic success. The Strait of Hormuz agreed. We have prevailed.
Now we have to wind this thing down. The Iranians are not trustworthy negotiating partners, of
course. They lie, some of them, as part of their religion. They can justify them as their religion
to the infidels. And they don't wanna resolve this. You have jihadis in charge who they will
literally fight to the death and try to kill everybody who disagrees with them.
So where does that leave us? What it's gonna result in, I think, very soon,
we're gonna enter a new phase. Cuz you're right, their economy has collapsed. They have nothing
left. Scott Bessett, the president, everybody's just keeping tabs on this and keeping us up to
date, keeping the American people up to date are exactly right. I think that we turn a corner here
very soon. I think they're trying to outlast the president to the election, thinking that it will
do him some harm. But I think the smart people and the American people are paying attention.
They understand what's going on here. I think Iran's on his last leg. And I think we can
ultimately have a peace in that region, which will be good for Americans and everybody around
the world. That's the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson from Louisiana. He joins us today live,
driving around Pennsylvania. Mr. Speaker, you're in four or five different congressional districts
today. Sir, I don't know if anybody's working harder for his party than you are right now,
but we're grateful for your time today. And we thank you for joining us on the show.
Glad to be with you, my friend. Keep up the great work. I tell you all the time,
you're a singular voice and we gotta have you out there. I'm grateful.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, for your time today. Mike Johnson, Magic Mike. I'm going to let him go and
I'm going to call him Magic Mike. He hates it when I call him Magic Mike, but that's what he is.
Magic Mike. He's pulled a lot of rabbits out, a lot of hats up in Washington
under the dome. We'll see if he can pull one out here in the middle.
