Epic Bison Stampede in Grand Teton

Perhaps the most awe-inspiring sight I have witnessed in Grand Teton National Park or anywhere else.

We rolled up just as a significant portion of the Teton Bison Herd was set into motion. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of muscle stampeding en masse. The herd charged along a fence line, until in a rush of organized chaos, the bison went under, over, and crashing straight through the barrier and across the road.

The sheer power, dust, and raw energy of a thundering herd like this is a vivid reminder of what the American West must have been like when tens of millions of bison roamed the plains.
