In this video I find on of the dirtiest condensers I've found. It's a wonder it didn't kill the compressor! I clean it thoroughly

Hey guys, in today's video, I'm going to take you along
on a service call and I'll go ahead and tell
you this is one of the worst condensers I've ever seen.
It was bad, but it got a total
transformation. You're going to like this video. Stay tuned.
Your
tools
will
walk
around
to
the
condenser.
Did
that
just
move?
Look
at
that
condenser.
the coil right
now i'm going
to focus over here
and by the looks
of the coil i would
not be shocked
if that compressor
is shorted if we got power we
do not have power all right
first thing i'm going
to do i'm going to put my own meter
on beep test for continuity i have
to select something else on
this meter to get to just check ohms to ground i'm sorry
but this space is giving me the heebie
jeebies i'm reading like
it started at like seven
megohms and then went
to um zero two megohms
slowly going up to zero
that was turned off
you'll see that it has
to be turned like
this for it to
come on you'll see
that fan trying
to move all right
we need to check
capacitor
and definitely
this thing needs a really deep cleaning let's
check capacitor first i swear the way this looks
I'd like to remove the condenser bulldoze this right here
and start over. All right, let's make sure we don't have power
They're lucky that compressor still works
See if I can read this capacitor
I am reading zero
is good let me see
i gotta go get
my filter anyway
so i'm going to the
filter forgive me
i'm gonna go get a filter capacitor
and get ready to clean this thing up this is terrible
my
battery
died
i'm
finding
some
ants
so i
need
to
be
careful
it's
a
miracle
that
compressor
absolute miracle it
was still running i
got my work cut out
for me i
do not know how it was
running before but it's
definitely going
to be running better
really just washing
off the outside
right now
and i am going
to chemically clean
this thing i'm shocked
that compressor hadn't
killed
over
this
is
this
thing's
so
dirty
i'm
surprised
it you
know
kept
up
last
summer
if it
did they
probably had
a high electric
bill that now
that i just
threw that out i
know what that
was that was one of
the screws that hold
the panel on pecan
tree right here and
those are pecan holes
i'm pulling out they look
like leaves but they're
not let's hook up our
chemical i'm gonna add some
water to it first obviously it's already got
a little bit of soap in it there's very little
left in this bag right here
but we're gonna add it to this stuff
is super concentrated this one
little bag makes like nine gallons so even
though i'm mixing it with water and this mixes it with
water when i'm
spraying it it
usually foams
up pretty good
it's not very
potent is it
it's foaming
a little bit coil
so it's full of dirt it
looks like it's orange
and if you're familiar with
south
georgia we
usually
have red
dirt this
thing's
gonna
run much
better all
right let's
empty our our
cleaner if y'all
been doing
coal cleaning
as long
as i have you
remember when
doing something like this we make it feel like um ants were biting you
because little droplets of
the coil cleaner had enough acid in them
that they would burn you this coil cleaner is different
i'm gonna spray some
on that in here
i've still got it
i'm just gonna keep
spraying until
i'm almost out of soap
all right i'm gonna let
that sit for a little bit i
am replacing that
capacitor
on
that
control
box
but i
don't
want
to get
it too
wet
that
coil
is
stained
red
down
there on the bottom i had
somebody comment about
my boots you see me
stepping in this
my boots are waterproof they
are leather just
plain leather boots
but um they go up above my
ankle i do not know
if those are on my store
but those are american
made Thorogoods in
combination
with
some
wool
socks
my feet
never
get wet
i was
done
washing
this
and we
can
start
putting
it
back
together
i've
been
battling
with
this
i
tried
to
do
one
side
the
front
that
ain't
working all
right getting
that housing
around the coil
was clearly
the hardest part
of everything
i've
done
so far
get
the
fiend
shroud
and
put it
back
on
there's
some
of
those
jumping
spiders
in
these right here black widow egg balls
or brown widow they look
the same either one you don't want to get bit
by you can see
a little better
that's there i got
is not near as big
around as this one
diameter is much different let's go get it
and guess what i've got some plumbing strap
give me a self-tapper we'll get this thing put
in okay we got us a 45 and 10 my common
is over here my yellow is my hot
you just don't want this thing
rolling around in here
have
to do go
to see this
one has
this C has
four spade
connectors
purple
is for my
horn it has
three spade connectors there's going
to be a brown one all
these for my fan motor right here
all three of them all right that
right there is for my compressor
remind me to tighten that back
up this i'm gonna put over here on run that's
the wait a minute that's loose too looking for my
need needle nose all right when i tighten
these up i grab it on the back of the spade connector
right here just press it a little bit not too much
and you'll never want to do that on the front
because then your spade connector will have trouble even fitting
on there okay what was the
other one
this one
tighten it up
on the back
let's see
where
this one goes
not easily
anyway thing
that was loose too
okay only one left
is my common it goes
over here black
with black all right
that's good pull these wires through make it nice
and clean looking and we'll clean these up
work for
that little
moment
right there
like i said
i don't
know how it
was cooling
before
but it's got to be doing much better now i can feel that suction line
and it is nice and cold
i almost am hesitant
to put gauges on it or probes
because i know if that one
starts leaking if that
Schrader core starts leaking it's hard to replace
because of that um pressure switch right there
forgive me my battery
is dying i don't have much
of a cell signal out here
i think i've got enough
to get my pressures
for 10. if y'all can see
that if y'all can see that
head pressure 337 and um
suction of 116 by trying
to get my attention we
are done here this customer
is going to be thrilled
with the result that's
the kind of job that i like
to do it um it's satisfying
to know you've
you've done a good job for your customer
and that the equipment is probably going to last longer
because you did a good job if you like videos like that like
