“Weak” is the word Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy used Friday to describe U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to ease sanctions on Russia after a phone call deal with President Vladimir Putin, which has supposedly secured “massive amounts of oil” for Americans.
“All that money goes toward the war against Ukraine.... This is a weak decision by strong partners,” Zelenskyy said during a public WhatsApp call Friday.
Asked about Zelesnkyy’s criticism of him later in the day, Trump avoided a direct answer and told reporters: “We are a strong partner… and this is diesel, which is what we need... Oil prices are already dropping like a rock, so we're very happy to get it.”
