The Heart of My Log Cabin — Building a Stove for Winter

With winter approaching, it’s time to begin my main project for this month: building a brick stove for my log cabin.

To be honest, working with stone and brick isn’t my favorite kind of work, but I’m sure the result will be worth the effort. Building a stove that heats well and works reliably is a challenging project. I’ve spent a lot of time researching how to build it properly, and now I feel ready to put what I’ve learned into practice.

This film follows the preparations and foundation work—the first steps toward the stove itself. Rather than wait until the entire project is finished and turn it into one long film, I’ve decided to share the journey over several videos.

I’m already looking forward to lighting the first fire and feeling its warmth fill the cabin. The days are getting colder, and I’m hoping to finish all the outdoor cement work before the first frost arrives. There’s still plenty to do, but every step brings me closer to a warm cabin for winter.

I also made a lock for my cabin door at last. It was one of those little jobs I kept putting off—until rumors of bears in the forest moved it a little higher up my list. 😅

Thank you for watching and following along with the build.
