Chris Becker is a biologist with the state of Florida. He is the president of the Venice Aquarium Society and an avid fish breeder specializing in South American fishes, especially L series plecos. Our Board of Directors met recently at his home. Here is a brief walk through of his fish room.
Okay, so we're at Chris's.
Chris is our club president, and he's got fish.
Boy, does he have fish. We're going to look at some of Chris's fish.
Right behind me are a remarkable collection.
These guys are, oh, eight inches, at least eight inches.
For those of you who are up on such critters,
they are Panda Wairus, and he does have a pair
that have paired off, no spawn yet.
Chris has been breeding the regular Wairus for several years,
and is responsible for
all of the fish that all the Wairus at Seagrass has been selling,
so these are real pretty.
in a 150 cube. Nice looking fish,
and they look real, real healthy.
Chuck, Chuck is a breeder.
We'll have to come over to his place soon and show you all of his fish.
He's got lots of fish too.
Chuck's our new vice president this coming year for the club.
They're the Wairu that Chris has been breeding.
He says they're stressed out so we can't get close
to them we pulled some fry out recently
and they're getting really big they are near about
a foot long they are just getting huge silver dollars all right
these are the right i remember
these uh wine wine miller rye
and some some narrow bar silver dollars you can see them there they are
Yeah, I'll take whatever you want
to get rid of.
I've got a couple of big tanks that would do well.
I've got a couple of these guys, too, that are smaller.
Do you want to say that name of that fish again?
Yeah, that's the yellowfin version of Chelsea's.
I think I've got the red Chelsea's.
They're pretty, aren't they?
Nice-looking guys.
So the hidden treasures.
If you notice the caves, all the tails out of the caves,
they're plecos in all those,
and they're all fancy L-series plecos,
and they're all sitting on the edge.
So a lot of really cool stuff in here,
but you can't see any of it, because they're all
hiding.
These are the red-headed tapajos.
Right there, tapajos.
Pretty fish.
a couple of redheads.
Our worm line, Pecoltia, so I really want to get a fry of those.
They're going to be really sharp fish.
They're pretty cool. A bunch of babies in here.
I mean, look at all the tails sticking out.
I haven't got any fry out of these guys.
They're pretty small when I got them,
so hopefully they'll breed in the next year.
Nice.
Cernamensis.

your video up tomorrow.
