Everyone who has a tropical fish aquarium has spent hours watching their fish. This form of meditation involves reaching outside oneself and putting one's entire focus on these tiny living creatures. This is the goal of meditation, to be released from oneself and focus on an other, in this case, a community of fish. Maintain an aquarium and find peace.

AI GeneratedFather Fish explores how maintaining and observing a tropical fish tank can serve as a powerful tool for meditation. By focusing on the natural behaviors of aquatic life, observers can detach from their own stresses, escape the troubles of the modern world, and find a sense of peace and joy through a deep connection with nature.
Hi there, this is Father Fish.
I'd like to talk with you today about your tropical fish tank
as a source of meditation.
Everyone who has ever kept
an aquarium with tropical fish
has spent hours staring into it, watching
the fish, the plants, maybe even tiny little
microscopic animals that are living in the tank,
and use a little hand lens or even a
microscope to study a drop of water
from your aquarium. All of this is a source of
meditation. Now what do I mean by that?
Well, what is meditation? Meditation is a way of
leaving everything behind and getting outside
yourself, focusing on something beyond yourself.
and certainly observing fish in an environment such
as an aquarium is a way to do just that.
What we all, each and all of us,
find so fascinating is watching these little animals
as though they were in the wild,
as though they were in a pond or a stream or a lake or a ditch,
moving around as they would, looking for food,
finding friends and enemies,
being in their natural state.
So as we observe them, we are getting outside
ourselves and getting into the life of an animal
as it lives its life naturally in its own environment.
Isn't that what meditation is?
Getting outside yourself, observing something
that you have very little emotional contact with,
but it allows you to share something precious
and special and beautiful in the life of another being.
So, as you stare into your tank and watch
the fish as they swim around, as they eat,
sleep, have sex, raise babies, make nests,
do all of the things that fish do, you'll
be seeing a part of nature that would
not be easily available to you other than through this
device of an aquarium.
These guys are major predators. Now they're little,
but they're going to get big.
They're arowanas, clown knives, and peacock bass
living in here along with a few other characters
but those are the main predators and they become
very very large right now they're pretty small
but we'd be able to watch them as they grow
be able to see what they eat how they interact what
their behaviors are and learn more about
others learn more about nature and about the real
world than we can see by checking the news every
evening so escape from the troubles of the world
into the life of nature and you will be ennobled
and you will be at peace and you will find joy
and satisfaction and maybe
just maybe live a little longer
have fun with your fish and enjoy your aquarium
bye for now, this is Father Fish
