Here's why this Thanksgiving banner flew over the Detroit River

I came down here to see this plane fly
by with this little banner that's supposed to
signify the friendship between Canada and the United States.
Well, yeah, it's a nice gesture considering
what we're going through, you know.
I'm a proud Canadian.
There's so much automotive here.
All my sons are in the automotive.
All my sons are Chrysler.
I'm a Ford man, retired, of course,
and we've always had a great, great relationship.
We are so tied with the automotive.
Parts cross the border several times for one car.
And every time he has put tariffs on it, it affects the prices.
And, of course, our jobs are being affected.
We hear about Stellantis and other plants considering,
you know, cutbacks.
What does this mean, especially right now
in the times that we're living in?
Me, my family, I have relatives over there.
We would go over there once, twice a week,
shopping, everything over there.
Now, I haven't been over there in two years,
and I refuse to go over there right now.
I don't have a passport.
I don't tend to get a passport until Donald Trump is out of office.
I'm really moved by it just
because we're not enemies of any kind with the American people.
We enjoyed for years going over. We have relatives.
It's all connected. We're all connected.
It's the political scene that's really making us sour.
So it really is genuinely about the community,
it's genuinely about the people, and it's a recognition of how Canada
and the U.S. continue to move forward in positive ways and really focus
on what ultimately is important, and that is the century-long
relationship that this binational border represents.
That shows a lot of respect.
Thank you. Thank you very much. From the bottom of my heart.
