Do you still love her?
Nothing happened. There's only you. It has always been you.
Keri Russell is spilling some steamy,
behind-the-scenes secrets about her romance with Matthew Rhys,
including how they used to sneak around
together on the set of The Americans.
The actress opened up about their relationship,
their decision not to get married,
and why Rhys didn't thank her during his big night at the 2026 Emmys.
Russell recalled falling in love with Rhys
while filming the FX spy drama,
where they played Soviet intelligence officers posing
as a married American couple.
During an appearance on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast,
she revealed that their off-screen romance was just
as exciting as their characters' double lives.
We were falling in love and staying up all night
and having sex all the time
and just wearing disguises, Russell said,
describing how she wore crazy wigs and pearls
while sneaking around with her co-star.
She fondly remembered the experience as so fun
and sneaky and sexy and so good.
The two began dating in late 2013
and have been together for more than a decade.
They share a 10-year-old son, Sam,
and have largely kept their relationship private.
And while their romance has lasted 13 years,
don't expect wedding bells anytime soon.
Russell also explained why she and Reese have no plans to tie the knot.
The actress, who was previously married to contractor Shane Deary,
says she doesn't feel the need to get married again.
I've had a big party, you know.
I get to dress up all the time, she explained,
adding that marriage means different things to different people.
She also pointed out that people used
to get married for practical reasons,
like being able to have a credit card, before joking,
I don't need my last name to go away.
But that doesn't mean the couple isn't
supportive of each other's careers.
Russell also addressed why Reese didn't mention
her during either of his two acceptance speeches
at the 2026 Emmys, where he won for The Beast in Me and Widow's Bay.
As it turns out, she gave him permission
to leave her out of his speeches
because she knew how nervous he was about speaking in front of a crowd.
Russell recalled telling him,
Take me off your plate.
Like, you don't have to thank me. I know you love me.
She added that she didn't care if he wanted
to thank the dog walker instead,
explaining that an acceptance speech should
be about whoever the winner wants to acknowledge.
The actress also pushed back against
the criticism Rhys has faced for not thanking her publicly,
saying people can get nuts about the issue.
The couple has been through this before.
When Reese won an Emmy for The Americans in 2018,
he joked during his speech that Russell had threatened to punch him
if he proposed to her at the ceremony.
More than a decade into their relationship, it seems the two
are perfectly happy keeping things on their own terms,
both on and off the red carpet.
