The sewer pipe improvement project on State Street has
been blocking parking spots for months now at Huguitos
and the Community Music School of Springfield,
and influencer Bud Santiago has been documenting it all.
What began as an AI video of Santiago jet skiing through State
Street's water main break led to a viral moment of about 30,000 views
on Facebook gathering support for local businesses.
He was hoping to get the attention of city officials
to help with the limited parking situation.
And after doing his own research,
Santiago realized Huguitos has seen a drop in customers and revenue,
so he decided to take matters into his own hands.
I always add comedy to everything,
even the serious situations, because it's the person I am.
I feel like with my platform, I feel like this will be heard
and something, hopefully, God willing, will be done about it.
We've seen a direct drop in revenue about, we saw about 20, 30%.
And I'm just real thankful to Bud, honestly,
because he's brought awareness to a lot of people.
