And, like, what was the plan like from the jump?
Like, how did I find out about it?
Yeah, how did you find out about it?
How did the Panthers kind of plan this out for you?
Well, it all started when I came back home from Michigan.
I had a youth camp up there.
And then I started shortly afterwards, I started coughing up blood.
And it was, like, a lot of it.
And I could start feeling it, like,
leaking, like, through my chest even.
Something, like, really different.
So after 15 or so minutes, I was like,
yeah, I got to go to the hospital.
I went to the hospital, they were doing CT scans,
ultrasounds, trying to find what was going on.
And that's when they found a multitude of clots in my right lung.
So, you know, shout out to the medical team out in Belmont
and then going to Pineville from there.
And, you know, Dr. Gritter for all her help, you know,
diagnosing it and figuring out a good game plan.
So from there, they put me on blood thinners.
And other than that, I was just working.
You know, I just couldn't have contact
on the blood thinners because, you know,
having contact on the blood thinners could lead to, you know,
like a brain bleed or what have you.
So, things like that.
I was ultimately doing everything I could
to just work and simulate football
without the contact up until then.
That sounds pretty scary.
Yeah, it was scary.
You know, you start coughing up blood,
you start, you know, thinking the worst.
But, you know, thank God I'm still on this side of the earth, right,
and getting the, you know, like past football, man.
I'm just, it just makes you count your blessings, right?
So I'm just happy to be here,
still get to see my family and what have you.
So, yeah, it's just, like I said, it's just a blessing.
Were you at your home in Charlotte when that happened?
And was it in June after the youth camp?
Yeah, it was in June, and I was at my home in Charlotte.
So that's why.
What were you doing?
Like, just kind of hanging out?
Yeah, I was just hanging out.
I was about to take a nap, lay down.
And all of a sudden, I just started feeling like my chest was,
like, really congested, right?
I thought it was just normal chest congestion
until I started tasting that blood in my mouth,
and that's when I knew something was up.
