Kathy is looking down.
She's laughing with his blinking and jaw movement. He's angry
and he wants to tell the truth and she didn't know what to do.
She was like a deer in the
headlights. I'm Dr. Lillian Glass and I'm a human behavior expert,
body language expert,
communication expert,
and I just watched the debate between Kathy Hochul and Blakeman and
it was quite insightful. Let's talk about delivery first.
When we look at and listen to Kathy Hochul,
There's a closing off of her throat.
There's a nasality.
I set up an entire office and hired the best in the nation.
It's very difficult to listen to.
And it's very difficult to process what she's saying.
And there was always bringing up somebody else,
bringing up Donald Trump all the time,
when it was really about her that she should be talking about.
I'm trying to mislead the voters.
And I think this is so pathetic.
It is so Trumpian, in fact.
Trump, Trump, Trump.
Well, you're the one who says he's the greatest president
and you love him, so those are your own words.
And you blame him for everything that you've done
in the state to make us number 50 in economic outlook.
And back to the question.
I'm sorry to interrupt. Go ahead.
I think that when you have to bring up President Trump constantly
and not talk about what you're going to do
and not say it forcefully enough
and be kind of wishy-washy with your tone and be kind of monotone,
that doesn't read well to the public.
Whereas Blakeman was emotional, he was enthusiastic,
he was saying things with conviction.
And that makes a difference. People do listen to that.
Or palling around with QAnon conspiracy theorists
or election deniers and white supremacists like my opponent does.
He palls around with all these people.
That's why he has no trouble lying in ads.
Shame on you calling me palling around with white supremacists.
I never went around with white supremacists, OK?
I'm offended by that.
There was also a lot of pause time
where she had to take her time to manufacture an answer,
whereas Blakeman just went right to it.
What do you say to legal experts who say James' statements
could jeopardize the investigation as appearing impartial?
Is that for me?
Yes.
Listen, I'm a mom.
I've dropped a daughter off at a college campus.
First of all, she couldn't answer the question.
And you see her smiling, looking in the camera.
There's nothing to smile about.
in this case and she's talking about a mom
that has nothing to do with what the situation was
and what the question was she looks at the moderator
but then immediately looks at the camera
and then she smiles and talks about something
that has nothing to do with what the question was
and so that is very questionable in itself
and not a very good form of debate and she lost a lot of
points on that you know that's pretty pathetic
to blame me for what happened in a fraternity
My gosh.
No, I'm blaming you for the investigation afterwards.
You deny that?
You were a trustee there.
The university failed that young woman.
Are you a member of the board?
We're going to move on to our cross-examination
and then lightning round.
We have so many.
Blakeman busted her big time when you really look at this.
And she didn't know what to do.
She was like a deer in the headlights.
So she smiled.
And then she looked away and blamed the university.
And he really held her accountable.
And he held her feet to the fire.
And that was very powerful in terms of leadership,
in terms of how he came across.
New York State now has
the lowest crime rates it's had in modern history.
Now, we're not done yet.
And you're going to hear a lot of, well,
a lot of different opinions here this evening.
Well, Kathy Hochul didn't look very governor-like,
stumbling like that and looking down and smiling.
She was embarrassed.
And it showed.
And it did not look very professional.
I think it was a real stumble. I don't think she was prepared for that.
And again, it did not come off well,
especially for somebody who is an incumbent governor.
You promised to cut energy costs.
You promised to cut down grocery costs.
And you know what?
Everything has happened under your friend Donald Trump,
who you are the president of the fan club for Donald Trump.
It's absurd how adoring you are of him.
One of the things with Blakeman,
with his blinking and jaw movement, he's angry.
and he wants to tell the truth
and he wants to uh fight back when she unjustly accuses him
and when he can't she constantly brings up trump
and saying that he's the biggest fan
and when blakeman said wait a minute there
are things we disagree on i may be a fan but i also
have my own agenda here
and so again a lot of times that movement that you're seeing the jaw
movement and the eye blinking is not insecurity.
It's anger at what she's saying. I'm actually not
looking at who's relaxed, who's not. I'm looking at many things.
I'm looking at their facial language.
I'm looking at their body language.
I'm looking at their vocal content. And I'm looking at their
speech content. So all of these things combined give me
a great picture of who I'm looking at
and what I'm listening to.
And what I'm hearing from Blakeman is more authenticity,
less being contrived, less being concerned
about how they're coming across,
less of the voice constriction.
He's free, he's speaking it all,
he's telling it like it is, he's authentic.
And authenticity wins every time
in terms of public perception.
