So my Creekside camp that we'll be building this fall is all that side-by-side ride here. Then I have to park the side-by-side, get in the canoe, go down there through a bunch of little channels, a long channel rather, and find the spot that I had lunch at earlier this year. Building a creekside camp this fall. And that's where I cut some trout a few videos back. Anyways, that's up this way. So I need this clear too. So we're doing this for a few reasons. And it seems like a good way to spend a day. What do you think? It's actually fun to throw big logs. What? It's fun to throw big logs Work them muscles, girl. Yep, exactly. Don't worry, there's a whole lot. But I want to see how the old Wetterling's axe works. I haven't used this axe in a while. And this is a decent-sized log. So let's give it a little choppy-choppy before I break out the chainsaw for good. I thought you were going to try to chop it with that thing on. The mask? I've done that before. My friend, Suspect Device from the old Bushcraft USA forum, We've had a meetup and he had my axe My man's old axe for a while before that meetup from the previous meetup making me an axe mask and the first time I used it after it right after he gave it to me I left the thing on and chopped right through it like a silly person. Yeah, I felt bad about that one Alright, let's get to it. So this this log is six inches in diameter. Alright so let's just to put it into perspective half an arm width thick and then that one's pretty decent size so what i think we'll do is chop some limbs down first give myself some space and that's the real sucker over there okay and lots over here for sure yeah all on this trail definitely come on now come on watch out pull it and see i don't know here the wood for the woodpecker this one might be an issue emmy it's live too so it's gonna be super heavy hmm yeah this might be uh yeah that's almost as big as my bar is around darn my my chainsaw blade is not very big it's just one for at home it's not like a work one so it's it's it's pretty small compared to this i've already had it bound up a couple times i think so with the bigger chainsaw can you back up i could be wrong but i'm not really i don't know i'm not i've never used a chainsaw too much in my life yeah i think so i can you stay back for a sec baby i don't want of these to come down on you you know i want you to watch your eyes all right i said watch your eyes here sounds good yeah well at least we can clean it up underneath so people can get by i think a snowmobile can get under that on this side at least so and maybe even a four-wheeler don't worry i believe you all right let's get these two done and then we'll call it a day i think just hold on no no because when i left this it's gonna probably stick everywhere so just i don't have to get poked these are pretty sharp maybe i won't i won't get rid of most of them that's what people call me i got you i'm just joking nice face macho man emmy savage javelin let's clear up a couple of those too and you can get those yeah give me one second kiddo your face is what i love it it's the most beautiful face i've ever seen ah oh i know it was just quicker okay can you try and grab all these ones i cut like this for me please we're going to keep these for firewood yeah we'll throw them in the back to the side i said they're super dry and they got some resin in them and stuff from the spruce maybe Chris that's so bad not so bad i'm having some fun wood chippy oh you're not ouch that a little sweaty anyways look at that looks much better looks much better definitely you can get under it with a normal quad i don't know about mine but uh no not mine a snowmobile can I think but we came up this way a little bit and looked and it looks like it's smooth sailing all the way down there So I am inclined to try to get this out of the way So that's free pass all the way to the to the put in for the canoe freaking Stoneville Bridge I think if I undercut it and then come up on top somewhere around here where it's narrowest I undercut it come up on top and just keep chipping away at it and I have my axe in case it gets too wedged get out and then that'll fall and then it'll have weight pulling it down this way and I can just hopefully cut it off that side and roll it out of the way use the side-by-side even to move it out of the way we are all right I mean maybe maybe we're gonna attempt it though couple different swipes at it but it worked I didn't get jammed and then this guy was pretty smooth sailing I did get whipped in the face pretty good let's get this big thing out of the way I feel good about that Heck yeah, bro. I thought it was going to happen Why? when that branch was about to hit your face cut it here, it'll be much more off the truck and we can take this home and use this as a chopping block sessions Yeah. it is getting ruined, you're right So I need a new one. I think if I cut it that long, it'll be tall enough and stable enough can you back up please Just ripped a little there, but that's fine. damn starting to work it into the ground a little bit. well it's just, it's like cambium layer, it's fine It's soft. yeah, it's fine. I don't think so very sticky piece of wood big open spot like off the trail right behind the camera that tight here if I pull this with this side by side I might be able to pull it over into that exact lighter end oh my goodness holy smokes okay we can get by that and tie it on big difference than uh than before clear smooth sailing through the trail not too shabby and that's where it needs to be um me and Emmy are going to take a drive up the trail to see if it's all clear the whole way yeah i'm hoping it is i wouldn't mind clearing a couple little more things i'm having having a lot of fun this is good use of my tools and uh so having some fun with you are you having fun or no you don't like the chainsaw no sorry about that baby we should write your your clothes it's pretty hot but we're almost done and then once we start driving we'll be cool again and then right into the lake yeah i'm talking like just underwear into the lake at least for me feel the breeze emerald okay watch Watch out, you're gonna get scratched here. Big ol' wolf poop back there. That's the Trout River, but it looks pretty dry. Oh yeah, we can go check that out. Yeah, we need a canoe. We can't fish from this bridge. But now we can get through with the canoe. You wanna go see if there's frogs? I want to see that wolf poop. Oh, she's a biggin bud real biggin. I think I may be turkey.
