She brought her car in to be fixed.
Instead, it was totaled.
That's the claim of a Hollywood woman
who speaks to Fox 11's Cristina Gonzalez
about a repair shop nightmare.
It's a story you'll see only on Fox 11.
So here's my car.
The badly damaged Audi 5,
the owner says she took into A&E German car service
in Santa Monica last month, looking like this,
after getting a fluid check light.
I took it to the shop on Thursday morning, Thursday, September 3rd.
Alicia Good says she kept calling the shop for updates,
finally getting a call from the owner
Saturday afternoon saying there had been an accident Friday night.
Had a one car accident
with a barricade is what he said. Then he hit this.
Several miles away from the shop in Pacific
Palisades, according to Alicia,
and the incident report she filed with police. She recorded the
damage to her vehicle, which she says
the owner had towed back to his shop before even telling her
there had been an accident.
My hand was like shaking because I was like shocked at how bad
it was. You can see right down the middle and the whole
car is shifted in. There's no arguing that
it is total beyond belief.
When I was there he was like oh don't worry we're gonna get you the
same car but lower mileage which I was like what?
I'm like good luck because it was a 13 year old
car and it had about 68,000 miles.
The owner of the shop was not available to speak with us.
no one could explain why the vehicle
was being driven miles away from the shop it's now been a
month i still don't have an offer they did about
a week after the accident they did get me a rental
car i feel like people should know that they are using your car
but the police said it's debatable
whether or not it's actually a grand theft
because i had entrusted them with my car the whole thing
is rather egregious my big takeaway
from this whole ordeal i would say put a tracker on both
your keychain and a second one in your car
and set alerts from that shop. So you get alerted
when your car is removed from that shop
and take a picture of your mileage and maybe take
some pictures or a video of your car.
Again, no one at the shop was available
to speak with us saying only that the matter
is being handled by their insurance company.
In Santa Monica, I'm Christina Gonzalez, Fox 11 News.
