DC weather: Thursday showers likely as temperatures plunge nearly 30 degrees

For us, time for your weather and traffic. Taking a look at downtown D.C. Such a pretty sight with all the lights lit up right there on the Potomac. And, of course, the monuments just glowing at this hour. Taylor, as we work our way through the day, where are the temperatures going to take us? Yeah, they're going to take us down a little bit. So, I know, we hit record highs yesterday. 90 degrees officially hit at Reagan Airport. Today, we're going to be almost, you know, 30 degrees cooler, if you can believe that, by the afternoon. So, right now, it's not that bad. We're still in the 70s, but that's the warmest we'll be all day long. Winds are out of the north and east, and that's going to help bring in that onshore wind flow throughout the day, keeping us kind of cloudy and cooler throughout the afternoon. So dress for the 60s throughout the daytime just because it won't be nearly as warm as the conditions will be when you're heading to work or school this morning. It'll be much cooler when you're heading home. Live look at radar. We'll keep things dry for now, but we could see a couple of very light showers move through over the course of today. this is going to be due to that stalled front near the area it's moved through but it's just south of here so that will keep us unsettled throughout the day and help bring in that cooler air as well i'll talk future cast i think this is specifically overdoing the precipitation a little bit but brings our best chance south of dc throughout most of the daytime we'll keep that chance out there all the way through this evening and uh just outside of that it's just gonna be cloudy and cooler uh heading into tomorrow we're gonna warm back up gain some brief sunshine and then that front really works its way through that'll bring at least a mention for maybe some strong storms by friday late afternoon and evening 65 degrees we'll go with that's what it should be around by the afternoon but the high temperature will actually be early in the morning 80s for tomorrow so we will see that brief warm-up and enjoy it because that's gonna be the end of it for quite some time if not the end of it all together for this season by the weekend we'll feel the effects from that cold front it'll be much cooler with morning temperatures in the 40s and afternoon highs struggling to get to 60 degrees.
