This Is A MAJOR Question For The Jets...

This is a major question for the New York Jets.
Kenyan Drake has been one
of the most talented players on offense this season,
but he has entered concussion protocol,
and after today's injury report,
there are serious questions about his status this week in New England.
And Geno Smith, despite not throwing an interception,
has severely missed Omar Cooper, Mason Taylor, Breece Hall,
and has kind of flattened out a little bit
in terms of his production this season.
We'll discuss how concerning that is and what
the Jets' offense should be able to do
and what we can expect them to do against a Patriots defense
and a team that is overall playing a lot better recently.
What's going on, guys? I'm Josh Byrne. You're tuned into Jets Digest.
Guys, thank you so much for all the continued support through
the early stages of this season.
The Jets had 2-3, and look, it's not, you know,
you don't dream about being 2-3 through 5 weeks,
But considering a year ago the Jets were 0-5
and didn't win their first game until their
eighth matchup of the season, they have shown some progress.
They should have beaten the Green Bay Packers.
They could have beaten the Detroit Lions.
And last week was a really, really solid showing,
albeit not perfect, against the Cleveland
Browns.
But one semi-surprising update was that earlier this week,
Rich Cimini pointed out on X that
that Kenyon Sadiq is in concussion protocol.
And this was from yesterday.
This was on Tuesday.
Glenn declined to give updates on any injuries.
But then you have this update from today from Brian Costello,
who said that all the injuries are basically an approximation
because the Jets had a walkthrough
today rather than a standard practice.
But among those listed is indeed Kenyon Sadiq,
who was, albeit, limited.
And then also Omar Cooper.
So that's a major development on multiple fronts in terms
of what we can expect Geno Smith to work with this week.
I think it's going to be a tough matchup for the New York Jets,
and especially considering the question marks
in terms of the personnel that will be available.
And for Omar Cooper, obviously, it's a good thing
that he's even performing at all or practicing at all.
But I still think the over on 43.5 points is going to be a no for me
when I'm trading on Kalshi.
And when you look at the overall market
for this matchup against the New England Patriots,
right now 74% of traders on Kalshi are trading yes
on the Patriots to indeed defeat the New York Jets.
And it's going to be a tough assignment.
No doubt about it, this doesn't surprise me.
In fact, I would have thought it would be even
a little more lopsided in terms of the
New York Jets, but if in terms of the Patriots beating
the New York Jets, but if you want
to input your thoughts, you can always get on to Kalshi,
the proud sponsor of today's
video.
And remember, guys, unlike traditional sports books on Kalshi,
you are trading directly
against other users.
So you're going to be buying yes
or no on contracts on the outcomes, not just across
sports, but also politics or even the weather.
So if you're interested in trying out Kalshi, you can use the link.
It's in the description,
and then it's also the pinned comment below this video.
And if you use code DIGESTNFL, you can get $55 added
to your account instantly when you trade your first $25.
So there you go.
And in terms of what I was getting at,
in terms of this injury update for the New York Jets,
It's kind of a double-edged sword because this confirms
the concern with Kenyon Sadiq that there is something going on,
being the concussion.
But it's also more unclear because, again,
this is an approximation that the press did not have
the same kind of access to be able to fully analyze,
nor were they able to get confirmation from Coach Aaron Glenn
on who exactly is trending towards playing on Sunday.
But at the very least, if Kenyon Sadiq was at least
in a very minor extent able to participate,
that is not a bad sign for him playing this week.
And more positively is Omar Cooper even being out there at all.
This is a guy who we haven't even seen since week one of the season.
And he had one catch and it looked amazing.
a 30-yard catch-after run against the Tennessee Titans,
in which he unfortunately hurt his ankle
on that play. And think about it.
I mean, these are two first-round picks for the Jets. You have
Kenyon Sadiq, who, yes, he has really plateaued these past two weeks.
I think that has more to
do with Frank Reich and the Jets not utilizing him
as much as they should versus Kenyon Sadiq
just not being good enough.
Because for all intents and purposes, Kenyon Sadiq is a beast.
He's an absolute monster. He's an athletic freak.
So the possibility of him not being out there on the field,
despite the fact that he hasn't put up the numbers we were expecting
to see after he had such a such a big game against the Detroit Lions,
is not indicative of of who he is as a player
and what he's going to eventually become when he hits his NFL peak.
But, man, do the Jets need him to play.
And, man, would it be a huge boost for this team
and a much-needed one for Omar Cooper to come back.
Because I think it's all but certain,
especially looking back at this injury report,
when we look back at it again,
we see both Brees Hall did not practice
and Adonai Mitchell did not practice.
And Adonai Mitchell is a guy who's been dealing with a finger injury.
The Jets have been very discreet about giving away any details
on his injury so it's tough to say
when he's going to be coming back but it certainly appears
like it's not going to be this week
and then going back to it in terms of Mason Taylor updates
i mean mason taylor he's not he's not even listed here he's
not even listed but again i don't know
to what extent this is is trustworthy given
that this is an approximation certainly mason taylor
would be a boost. He had been relatively quiet in the early stages,
but the Jets need everything
that they can get because despite winning last week,
I mean, Geno Smith had another relatively
quiet day. It comes after his worst game
of the season against the Chicago Bears. And when you
look at the trajectory of what he's done this season,
I mean, you look at the overall numbers
and they are more than respectable.
I mean, the guy hasn't thrown any interceptions and, you know,
he has a completion percentage just under 70%.
That being said, guys, I mean,
if you've been watching the games the past couple of matchups,
it hasn't been the same kind of production.
And again, when you look at a guy like Kenyon Sadiq,
you look at his season stats, the bulk
of these numbers came in one game.
But that one game against the Detroit Lions
also showed the kind of impact that he is
capable of having.
And when you're going up against a team
in the New England Patriots that was in the Super
bowl last season and has absolutely annihilated the jets specifically
when the jets have played
in new england i mean let's be honest they've annihilated
the jets whether they've played
in new england whether they played
in east rutherford it doesn't matter where they're
playing the patriots have gotten the better
of the jets for the past many many seasons
and you think and you feel like as a jets fan
this is a better unit than what we've seen in
at least compared to last year
but they still need to show it do I expect the Jets to win on
Sunday unfortunately I can't say I do but I expect them
to put up more of a fight than we've seen in
recent years in New England
but a big piece of that a big element is what they are going to get
out of the passing game and what they are going
to get out of the passing game is going to be
largely dictated on who is available
is Kenyon Sadiq going to be playing or is he going to be
out with a concussion. Right now,
I would venture to say he is not going to be playing. Not good.
Mason Taylor, complete mystery. I have no idea.
I certainly hope he plays. Omar Cooper, I'm going
to take a wild guess and say he will play.
But again, I don't have a magic eight ball with me.
I don't have a crystal ball.
The fact is the Jets need as much good news as possible right now,
and in terms of what they have available in the receiving room,
it continues to be one of the
biggest question marks for this offense
and for this team as they head into a really big
divisional matchup. Because even if you don't expect
the Jets to win like me, this is a big
proving ground for the Jets as an organization.
Going up against a team that was in the Super
Bowl last year, a team that has absolutely owned
them over recent years, and also being that we
are approaching the middle point of the season,
what kind of momentum can Aaron Glenn's roster
build can they carry over the positive momentum from last week
or will that be a fluke and will
they follow it up with a dud we'll find out
and who is available and who is playing including
Kenyan Sedric will be a big part of answering that question
so let me know what you guys think down
in the comments below about what you think of this jets offense
and the question marks this week what
you expect to see in new england
and how you think they'll fare up in foxborough comment below let me
you know, and as always, guys, let's go Jets.
