You know, Scott, everybody's saying
that Nick Sirianni should shave his head.
You know, we're, what are we, five weeks in?
It worked in 2024, why not now?
So, we should be on shaved head watch.
I don't know if that's going to happen this time around, though.
No, I hope he's spending his time looking at film
and trying to analyze whatever's going on out there.
But, yeah, look, back on the practice field today,
a lot to go over with this team because it's coming right back at you.
Another game on Sunday against the Panthers.
Our Breland Moore is live out at the training facility.
She just got out of the locker room a little bit ago.
Breeland, what did you hear from these guys?
How are they doing getting ready for another game?
Well, guys, I've got to be really honest with you.
It was a little empty, a little sparse here in the Eagles locker room
in terms of availability.
Players just weren't around, simply, which is never the best sign.
However, the guys that we did talk to,
I talked to Dallas Goddard first and foremost
you know, about how he finally has a tight end room
to work with for the first time all season long.
Remember, he also missed some time,
but then you had Grant Calcaterra and Eli Sowers on injured reserve.
And so obviously it makes it a little bit difficult,
right, to find a flow,
to find a rhythm in that tight end room
when everybody's hurt and missing time.
And I think that's the case throughout the course of the offense.
I said, you know, Dallas, I know it's the next man up mentality,
but where are the men at this point you're kind
of in well into the depth chart and he said i know
you know but you gotta just kind of control
those controllables um and he's like i i'm really proud
i'm really happy for these young guys getting some time here
and and they can definitely rise
to the challenge but i think they kind of have
to say that the reality of it is i mean take a look
at this injury report it is astronomically long i have covered
the nfl this is my 11th season and
my third team that I've covered in the NFL,
I've never seen something quite like this.
I mean, this is, what, font size six at this point?
I've never seen an injury report that looks like this.
And the fact of the matter
is the Eagles just simply don't have the personnel
to compete right now.
Their starting running back as of right now
was on the practice squad a week ago.
Some of these offensive linemen,
they played their very first game in London.
I mean, this is unbelievable.
The good thing is there is this little bit
of a silver lining with the offensive line.
Landon Dickerson did practice today.
He did speak as well.
And not only can he help these guys on the field,
but he can also help them off the field with his leadership.
So can we hear from Landon Dickerson right now?
I think it's important to kind of help guys where you can.
Obviously, we've got some guys playing out of position,
some guys trying to just you know get the best five out there
and fit in so you know anything
i can kind of do to help them i don't want
to overreach obviously i think coach cooper does a
great job Greg, Austin does a great job
but if they ever have questions or anything you know
i'm always open to help these guys
and hopefully you know Landon is a hundred percent or at least
as close as possible because they need everybody
that they possibly can for this line i mean this
is this is insane guys i have never seen anything quite like
this yeah that that the font size six
got me because it's so true
when you see it Landon would be you know if i could pinpoint one guy to
to come back i mean Landon is definitely one
of them Saquon being the other one and obviously he
it doesn't you know you don't want to rush a hamstring back
and Landon you know you don't
want to rush that back either
but my goodness we need them both now yeah definitely and and uh
Breeland, I know DeVonta Smith was working off on the side
So there's 24 names on the list, and it is amazing, as you pointed out.
It's a 52-man roster now that Lane Johnson's retired
There were only six that did not practice
So while it sounds ominous to say there's 24 there
does it at least feel like maybe they're closer
to the light at the end of the tunnel
than the other way around?
Yes, no, I'm not entirely sure
I mean, like I said, the locker room was very sparse
and so you really couldn't get a good feel for how these guys feel.
So it was a little weird in the sense
that you really couldn't talk to a ton of players today.
I hope that they can get this thing together,
but unfortunately, this is kind of, you know,
you always hear coach me control what you can control
and don't worry about the uncontrollable
The uncontrollables are pretty hefty at this point
You just saw them there.
And even if they're in the game, they're clearly not 100%
if they're limited practice participants, right?
And so it's very, very concerning going down the line.
That being said, when you look around this division,
the Eagles are still very much in it.
Jameis Winston, those wheels are going to come off in New York, okay?
So I'm not necessarily worried about him.
But looking around as a whole, I mean, this entire division is a mess.
And so the Eagles aren't necessarily in trouble.
they're not cooked per se but my goodness they have
to get healthy as soon as possible because
this is this is unbelievable
and and the running back position it's a tough one to fill if you're
howie like this you know you can't just go out
and grab a great running back out there you'd
probably have to take someone else's practice
squad running back and you know we're already
doing that right now so if you're howie he's
a little handcuffed right now as to what he can do
to fill that and i guess we just have to patiently wait
for saquon to come back yeah jason and you
know what that's the I'm going to be very honest
that is the dagger I think for this team the
offensive line was always a strength
and it all kind of meshes together right when we think about
successful Eagles teams of recent history we think about
a very very strong offensive line we think
about a very very strong run game that then complements
the pass game they can't do any of
that because they don't have the personnel
in there I mean they don't have running backs how
are you going to have a strong run game how
are you going to run the ball without a running back
you know uh and and it's no again no shade
on damian pierce i feel like i'm picking on him a
lot but it's just that is the position that is is lacking
the most for me i mean he is your fourth
string running back and that's kind of where we
are in with this offense and you know i just really
don't know what they're going to do until some
of these guys come back it's it's really really poor
in terms of their health yeah i agree all right
Breland, uh thank you very much for all that
insight what you have found there including
the amount of players that didn't end up
finding themselves in the locker room
