AI GeneratedThe region is experiencing a significant cool-down with pleasant temperatures but hazardous wind conditions. While the weather is generally enjoyable, strong wind gusts have caused property damage, such as fallen trees. A gradual warming trend is expected to follow a chilly weekend, eventually returning to typical warmth by next Friday.
Alright, let's talk about our weather. I know we're monitoring
the wildfires or the fires happening over in Southern California,
but our weather here has been looking pretty nice.
I did have to grab a jacket when I went outside.
I know I am very sensitive to the cold,
but for a lot of people it's very pleasant.
Yeah, no, it's certainly cooler
and you again don't enjoy that cool quite as much as some of us do.
I'm saying bring it on. I'm ready for it. At least for now. I'm sure I
We'll all be tired of it after a while.
But the winds are also quite a bit of an issue.
And we did see some problems today across our area.
We've got a couple pictures here.
This is from Deputy Constable Mark Herman's office.
This is up in the northwestern Harris County area,
kind of spring, more or less.
And a tree fell down across a resident's house there in that precinct.
And that's one of the reasons why we hear about
these wind advisories that are out there.
Not that you're going to know for sure when a tree is going to fall,
but just to kind of make sure that you're aware
that there's things that can happen when these winds pick up.
And this is some of the wind gusts
that were reported today by the National Weather Service.
Pelah just had a 48 mile an hour wind gust.
University of Houston recorded a 45 mile an hour wind gust.
Huntsville, if you're up in Huntsville,
it could be breezy for you today as well.
44 mile per hour wind gust is what was recorded there.
So currently, when we're looking at the winds around town,
we still have gusts up into the 30s at this point.
Houston, in the downtown Houston area, 33.
Same thing down in Galveston Island, about 33.
So officially, the inland areas,
this advisory goes through 1 a.m. this morning.
And then if you are right on the coast,
that's actually going to be 1 p.m. tomorrow in the afternoon.
So it will be a breezy morning,
pretty much no matter where you are in the viewing area,
but not quite as windy as what we're seeing right now.
And again, these gusts of up to 35 or maybe even 45 miles an hour,
not quite as strong as what we've seen.
Pleasant evening, though, for sure.
I looked outside a few minutes ago,
sort of a little bit of a sliver of a moon that's up in the sky there.
It was a fairly clear night.
67 degrees is the current temperature.
North winds at around 16 miles an hour.
a sustained wind as we were talking about
and those dew points that dry air all the way down
in the 40s so this kind of sums up the peak
of what we're going to see with this colder air
it's going to be on saturday afternoon
our coolest afternoon high temperatures right about 70 degrees
and the coolest morning will be actually on sunday morning
when we have temperatures right around 50
degrees so some of us will be in the upper 40s
the rest of us will be in that 50 degree area so
temperatures right now it's pretty much 60s across
the board Angleton 67 degrees Huntsville about 60
degrees Cleveland at 64 degrees right now
and that's quite a bit cooler than where we
were at the same time yesterday that temperature up
in Huntsville 20 degrees cooler than yesterday
at the same time Katy is 18 degrees cooler
and then we've got Pearland about 12 degrees cooler
temperatures across the state right now already down
into the 40s up into the panhandle and
And tonight, that part of the country is going to be down in the 30s.
And since this is our first freeze of the season,
the National Weather Service always issues that freeze warning
almost as just sort of the reminder
that we're getting into that time of the year.
But I don't think we'll have a freeze
in which we're down below 32 degrees for a very long amount of time.
Probably won't even hit 32 for most of the state of Texas, at least.
But again, we're already kind of thinking of that kind of season.
For tomorrow afternoon, we talked about those temperatures,
very pleasant, around 70 degrees.
And then for Sunday morning, I mentioned some folks in the 40s,
College Station, 45, Columbus, probably 45, Wharton, maybe 48.
And then the rest of us, especially in the metro area,
going to be around that 50-degree mark.
So put it all together for you here in the seven-day forecast.
Great-looking weekend overall.
And even when we start back to work on Monday,
it's a slow, gradual return to that warmer temperatures.
It's not going to be just that quick turnaround where we had just
a little bit of a brief break.
We'll get the best of what we've got on the weekend.
And then we gradually kind of begin to warm up
and probably going to be back to 90 degrees on Friday afternoon.
