Hi everyone, in this video, I am doing a dirty pour with a utensil container.
Follow along!
For this dirty pour, I used a simple but very beautiful color palette: black, white and gold 😍
I wanted to create a geode style painting with a lot of striations! To do this, I started by pouring the colors in the utensil container and then dipping my palette knife in the paint! I then poured the paint and tilted the canvas to move the paint around 🎨
This dirty pour technique is so fun to create a geode style painting! 🤗
Good morning everyone.
In today's video I'm doing a dirty pour with a utensil tray.
I just got this
from a dollar store so it's a really cheap tool that you can get.
My pours that I do with this
turn out very similarly to my pours that I
do with my leftover lunch meat containers and if
you want to see one
of those you can check out video number 570 where I just reused a lunch
meat container. It's just a plastic container
and did a really awesome dirty pour in some very
earthy tones.
I'm doing a very simple color palette of black, white, and gold.
Each of my colors are
mixed with Sargent Art Gloss Medium and Water.
I'm not really looking for a lot of cells in this,
so I'm not using Floetrol.
With this type of utensil container pour, I'm looking for
kind of like a geode style with a lot
of striations between the colors and I'm just
starting by using black for my base coat
and I'm just going to use my sponge brush to smooth out
that layer of paint. Once I have
my base coat down I just take each color and pour it individually
into my utensil container
and I just kind of go in a zigzag motion to create lines of paint
in my container.
I just took a palette knife
and just swiped it through
my colors just to add a
little bit more of a striation
or line design throughout my paint and then once I have that
ready
to go I just
pour it right
on my canvas.
From here
once I have
all my paint
poured I just
start tilting and this is where you can get some really awesome designs
in your paint. To me it
looks most of the time it looks like a geode style
this one turned out a little bit busier
than I had hoped for and I think my white paint
was a little bit thinner than my other colors and
so it took over a little bit
but overall it's a really fun way to do another geode style pour
and it's just a different type of container
to pour from than just pouring directly from a cup
I hope you
