Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s Beer Summit With TMZ Goes Off the Rails

Governor, oh my gosh, what's go whoa pick it up that's for you, this is for me, this is for you toss it back, all right, I I got something really embarrassing to say, I'm a I'm gluten free, I can't drink beer, I know it's kind of a wussy thing to say, actually just no no you're dismissed from Texas, honestly fair to say I actually just ran into this issue with this guy Abdul Sayed, I don't know if you're you're a fan but similar gluten situation, anyways thank you for having me here I mean this is a pretty awesome place, exactly you know this is a little embarrassing for me to say but I didn't know until yesterday that you were in a wheelchair, yeah most people don't know I was 26 years old, I was out running one day, trees larger than this crashed down on my back fractured my vertebrae. He left me unable to ever walk again. But it shows that even an accident like that does not slow you down. It was after that I went on to become governor of the great state of Texas. Well, I can only, I mean, that's crazy. I can only imagine what that's like physically, but I mean, walk me through mentally. How do you get past that and also go lead a very ambitious career? It's an enormous mental challenge, a mental hurdle that you're stuck in a quagmire for a while but you deal with it understanding that either you stay stuck or you move forward, I chose to move forward uh and every step of the way I met with success, one thing I did I worked hard, if you work hard in life it often leads to good results and even though you're what about like physically, I mean tell me how that took a toll on you i'd imagine you'd be going to meetings doing all these things listen it's physically taxing however listen i was a competitive athlete i knew what it was to engage physically and so actually one thing i miss is actually even working out harder than i'm working right now you work out yeah how to walk me through your regimen so uh one thing uh i do what i call paraplegic planks i do planks uh the way people normally would i just can't get up on my toes uh so i i do that uh i have a hand held bike machine that i've maneuvered yeah work out there do weight lifting nice it's pretty that's pretty good it's a lot better than what i'm doing these days i mean if you can't tell i'm uh not working out because you're not drinking beer i know that's embarrassing that's like i don't blame you for throwing me out because of that hey i gotta ask you just about the news of the day um i'm sure you saw katie zakaria she's the white house press secretary actually got fired right she did almost half a scaramucci actually five days what do you think about that i mean how do you think it's panning out for trump installing these tv stars in his administration listen i know trump likes talent i don't know the situation involving her because i've been engaged in my campaign but listen trump has a good eye for talent he's always going to have good people working for him who would have seen Caroline Leavitt being such a star that she became yeah he will pick the next Caroline Leavitt you think so i know so anyone that comes to mind that you would like to see i have no idea you know you know i think it's pretty good yeah you ought to consider it he may have a problem with your lack of looks but something you may consider just going to the white house you should go interview for the job me yeah you you think i'd be a good white house press secretary what makes you say that just because i'm like a super nice guy no because you know you're sharp you're articulate uh you can know how to punch and punch back as it concerns okay the media okay this is a good chance to tell president trump that maybe i should step up to the plate as he's looking for the right guy the right guy might be right in front of him wow what a night for me you know only way to celebrate it is with a beer i might have to break the whole gluten-free thing right now man someone beer me here can you film me yeah here we go you know if i get like a stomach issue we got you covered hey that's beautiful that's beautiful this is the real deal right here look at that right here at the texas governor's mansion history was made there you go all right hey if anything happens to my stomach it's on you Governor all right that's all right we take responsibility all right thank you very much don't drink and drive no no no no i'm about to walk back to my motel okay all right thank you Governor one last thing yeah hook him hook him hook him right there all right thank you
