'I feel incredibly fortunate': Vancouver incumbent Mayor Ken Sim
Oct 18, 2026
I feel incredibly fortunate and really proud.
I've seen our team work incredibly hard.
The volunteers, the campaign team, you know,
all the candidates, their families.
And it's just, it's been really humbling.
And it's, like you said, you know, like there's an atmosphere here.
People are like pretty happy.
And, you know, we've come together as,
it feels like a really big extended family.
And it's been great.
So the polls have shown that you're neck and neck with Pete Price.
Some polls show that he's ahead of you.
So how are you feeling about that?
I know that in the past, when we look at the 2022 numbers,
you pulled a lot of votes in Yaletown and also South Vancouver.
Now, are you relying on that same support this election?
Look, what we try to do is we try to earn the support
of people across this great city of ours.
And I'm sure there are some people in neighbourhoods
that were really strong for us in the past,
maybe not as strong or maybe people changed their minds
because they don't like something we did.
And then there will be other individuals in,
you know, maybe wouldn't be our traditional
supporters who really like what we've done.
So, you know, I guess we'll find out in a couple of
hours if we have enough supporters to form government again.
And you're running nine
candidates. Now, there's some thought
that maybe you might not be able to get all of them in.
this is a very different election than 2022 how
are you about a collaborative approach in terms of
working with council in the future now there's
been some criticism especially from Rebecca Bly
who said uh you know it was a very top-down leadership
when she was with the ABC Party
yeah you know look i i think uh
when you strip away uh politics and you know the political
theater that you see in front of the front
of the cameras uh look at the data i think uh we voted
the same way maybe over 90% of the time.
So obviously we agree on a lot of things
and we can work together.
And then on some of the issues that we don't agree on,
you know, that's actually just politics
and that's people, you know, debating their cases
and, you know, sometimes you get agreement,
sometimes you don't.
