HOW POWER IS BUILT: Inside the 500,000 Battery Factory Near Berlin | WELT Documentary
Near Berlin, a 36,000-square-meter site is transformed into Microvast’s European headquarters and a high-tech battery production complex. Crews move earth, pour foundations, erect 140 concrete supports, install a 17,000-square-meter roof and route kilometers of heavy power cable—all under a tight construction schedule.
At the same time, engineers in Chemnitz develop and test a nearly 100-meter automated assembly line before transporting it to Ludwigsfelde. The system assembles 12-cell lithium-ion battery modules for applications including electric buses, trucks and special vehicles. Despite a two-week delay during interior construction, the project is ultimately completed on schedule. In its first operating phase, the factory is designed to produce around 500,000 battery modules annually, with additional production lines planned as the site expands.
