We take a look behind the doors
at the Copper Faucet Soap Company in White Plains
to find out how it all happens.
This company was founded in 2015 by me and my then preteen daughter.
We started it in the kitchen of our home.
So we literally Googled how to make soap.
We have about 30 different varieties
of soap that we make.
We make body oils for women and for men.
We have aftershave.
We do our candles by season.
So our main product is our handcrafted soap,
which we make one batch at a time.
We make it in like a slab mold, which is 60 bars at a time.
Once it comes out of there,
we slice it and then we put it into these trays to dry.
The process of making soap is mixing together butters
and oils in different proportions.
So we do a lot of multitasking.
We'll start candles, then we'll pop over
and work on some body butters, then we'll do some
labeling.
Everything is done by weight, and you can see one at a time.
There's no conveyor belts here.
These two hands do it all.
We pride ourselves on using products that are sourced in the U.S.
We just feel very strongly about knowing what is in our products.
All the ingredients are in here,
and then we just added the fragrance into it.
We are literally doing this one at a time.
People nowadays, I think they really like
the idea of something that is handmade.
This was all just from a need with my daughter
that just grew into this business.
So, you know, there are times it's extremely exhausting.
But when I stop and I take that breath and I say, I did this.
From big businesses to small shops,
we're highlighting the people making, creating,
and building something special right here at home.
