Power of Pink event offers free mammograms, health screenings

Ladies, ladies, ladies, there's a chance to get free mammograms and other health screenings today. The Power of Pink event is happening at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. And here with more is Abigail Turnbull Barroso. Did I get that right? Yes, you sure did. With Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce. We've been talking about our pink and but more importantly, the fact that this is such an important cause and it's such an easy way for women to come together. It's a centrally located uh event and there's something there for everybody no matter what stage you're in yes absolutely and as we know october is breast cancer awareness month so any resources any place that you can find information is a great thing that you should be doing and today at the war memorial from 12 to 7 you can use the uh Anthony Suave mobile mobile mobile mammography screening unit it's hard to say it's a mouthful but it's such an exciting benefit toward this event where no appointment needed, and they can bill it through your insurance or provide financial assistance. So from 12 to 7, women can go in for a mammogram there, but our event is from 4 to 7, and you can go in. There are going to be lots of health advisors, other different screening services and resources, and a free event open to the public and lots of great resources. And you were saying you have 25 vendors coming. This isn't just come in and take a look at the mammogram machine and sign up and go. There's information. Lots of information. There are people you can talk to. speakers tell me about it so lots of information and speakers and vendors and many of them are from henry ford health our partner in putting on this wonderful event but others are community small business owners and non-profit organizations lots of great information and at five o'clock we'll have a panel of some professionals from the Henry Ford Hospital that will be talking about some breast cancer trends and different updates and things that you need to consider when looking at your health there are so many women who unfortunately let their health kind of sit by the wayside because they're taking care of so many other people. What do you say to them about an event like this? This event is for you. It is easy to get to, free, open to the public, and a great way to kind of check in with your health and learn something that might not even affect you directly, but someone that you love that might need a little reminder. And what about the speakers? Who do you have lined up for us? We have two doctors from Henry Ford and another health professional there. And for all of their information and their names and the timing on that, you can go to grosspointchamber.org or our social media accounts, Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce on Facebook and GP Chamber on Instagram. Which again, because even needing to maybe make an appointment, you know, to talk to a doctor can feel like a daunting task sometimes. It absolutely is. And I think we all know, especially going into this type of year, when you're around more family, it's important to be able to check in and have those hard conversations, but take some time for yourself. And of course, it's October, you know, so that's the timing of it. But also the fact that it's ahead of the holidays when you know you're really not going to have time to do anything for yourself for the next two months. Absolutely. Once we hit holiday season. So this is the time, right? This is a great time. And again, even if you're not going to be making an appointment, go in and you'll learn something. You'll get to connect with different women and people who have been affected by breast cancer. So we all know that everyone knows someone in their life that has been affected, and it's important, too. Okay. Tell us one more time when and where.
