NASA New Shuttle is Coming! Game Changer after SpaceX Dragon...
Today we're out working some of the major test events for the Dreamchaser program. Come out to the runway here at Kennedy Space Center, and we're here to run three critical tests."
Is Sierra Space's Dream Chaser finally about to launch?
That's the question the space community has been asking for over a decade.
And now, this question has become more pressing than ever, as the company has secured key contracts for its first mission.
Of course, the concern here isn't just that this is NASA's new spaceplane. It's bigger than that.

Chasing dream
Well, it's no coincidence that I say NASA's New shuttle keeps getting called an inspiring story. It's the story of chasing a goal that almost nobody else is willing to touch. NASA walked away from the lifting-body concept 15 years ago, and since then, no one has dared pick it back up. Sierra Space is the exception. Not only did they drag the idea back from the dead, but they also modernized it to fix the flaws that killed the original design in the first place.
That alone is worth pausing on. But here's the more interesting part: even with a development timeline stretching across decades, Sierra Space never let go of the goal. Maybe they knew from day one that the road ahead would be long and grueling — which is probably why they named their first vehicle Dream Chaser. The name reads almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
From 2016 to 2019, and now late 2026 — the launch date has slipped seven times. That's not a small number. It's enough to put fans through a full cycle of hope and disappointment, more than once. And that disappointment runs deep, because Sierra Space is still describing itself as "preparing for its inaugural mission." With only about three months left in the year, the schedule still just says "late 2026," no specific date attached.
So, is Sierra Space aware of the growing skepticism?
