Listen up.
Tulsa King is back.
And so is Sally Dogg's actor, James Quattrocchi,
is back to Tulsa King for season number four,
reprising his role as the fan favorite character.
He's kind enough to join us live to give us
a scoop on what to expect this season
and what it's like being back in that.
It's not the only project he's working on.
And like a true Bronx native,
he's got the Yankees poster hanging up on the wall behind him as well.
It's good to see you this morning.
Good morning.
How are you?
Listen, I got to ask you, first of all, about Tulsa King,
because, I mean, everybody loves your character.
But I want to know what it was like the first time that you
and Stallone went head-to-head
because even as a seasoned actor like yourself,
that had to be an experience.
Well, I saw Rocky when I was 16 years old.
I know exactly, you know, and it changed my life.
I started working out, started boxing.
I was in awe, to be really honest with you.
I just stepped back, watched him work, watched him do his thing,
and realized how blessed I am to be on the show,
to be on a show with him.
it's got to be interesting for you
when you look at your just the whole body of work that you've
done over the years with just dozens
and dozens of projects getting to work on so many different
projects with so many different actors you know like Stallone now
that you're working with
did you try to do that do you try to take
a little bit away from every project you're on
I just every time I book another project
and it's been an incredible month I mean I just
booked like four things I just feel blessed you know I give it up
and I'm very grateful
and I just want the next one.
That's my problem.
Like I'll hit a milestone
and I'm like, okay, what's next?
So I'm always, what's next?
Well, what's now is a couple of projects.
Let's start with Tulsa King.
The character's a fan favorite.
When you have a character like this,
are you able to put your personal spin on it
or are you pretty much going by the book here?
Because I know you've worked on both sides of the camera.
It depends on the character,
But sometimes you have to kind of, like, wrangle your demons
and bring up some ugly stuff inside you to make the character whole,
if that's the type of character he is.
So what should people expect from this particular season now
that we're getting things underway?
Well, it's a great season.
They went into a new business.
You know, the Bevilacqua character and the Sly character are at odds.
I work for the Bevilacqua character.
kind of keep my eye on sly it's probably the best season
so far james when you're working on
you have a big show like this and then you get booked
for another big show and then suddenly
you're working on multiple projects at the same time how
do you as an actor keep those separate
or have you ever had a time where one character
from one show kind of bleeds into another
100% I'm on Family Business, that character's Rocco I
do Sally Dogs on Tulsa King basically
it's the same character different name yeah
is that I mean I guess you're lucky with that that
you could kind of do the same thing
on two completely different shows on different networks
you know yeah sometimes
um being Italian you get stereotyped yesterday I played for Kibbles and
bits it's a campaign it's a voiceover campaign I played a mafia dog
so you know that's okay
you know, stereotype me, work me,
but I got a chance to play a fire captain and two police
captains in the last few months.
So I'm trying to change it up a little bit.
Do you have a favorite role?
And, you know, for yourself, like you said, you're,
you're still, you're booking yourself.
You fit your work one show. You're like,
I want the next. You're just, you love
acting so much that you can do that.
Is there one character though, over the years,
even if it was a smaller role, maybe that
you really enjoyed more than another?
Yeah. Everything I ever wanted right now
it's on Tubi it's a movie where I played a dad to a kid
who wants to be a rock and roll musician I
just want him you know to get a job that was I did it
in Savannah Georgia's one of my favorite
roles ever what a great movie uh everything I've wanted
on Tubi guys it's a great great movie all
right we'll check that one out I want
to come back full circle now uh with Tulsa King you work
with Stallone like you said I mean you get
a chance to work with the legend Rocky changed
everybody's lives including your own
if you're going like toe to toe with him in a scene are
Are you to the point now where you're just like,
this isn't Sly Stallone?
This is me, this is James, and I'm just being my character,
or do you still see him as Stallone?
No, 100%, you're correct.
I am the character, he's the character.
I'm gonna be honest with you,
I did Biloxi Mississippi, I did That's Amore with John
Travolta.
About a week before I was going down there,
I got nervous, because I've been following
John's career since Welcome Back, Connor.
So I really had to go inside and do substitution because I started
getting a little intimidated because I'm a big fan of John Travolta.
So, yeah, I had to create my character
and realize he was the other character.
And we're childhood nemesis in the movie itself, in the screenplay.
So you're 100 percent right.
You have to create your character, stay with your character.
I can't be going, oh, that's John.
Oh, that's Sly, because it take you right out.
Well, I tell you what, John was in here a couple of years ago
and I was intimidated at first just to meet him.
because of, like what you said, he had legendary status.
He turned out to be the nicest guy in the world.
But I didn't have to perform next to him either.
I just had to talk to him, and that made it
a lot easier than the character.
But you've been doing it, pulling it off for years.
I wish you the absolute best with both
the shows that you have going on now,
both on BET Plus and then obviously with Tulsa King.
James, thanks for your time this morning.
Congrats, and best wishes to everything else you're working on.
Thank you, Kylie.
All right, you're very welcome.
And there's the information on the screen right now for Tulsa King,
which you can check out on Paramount+.
Somebody else who's, you know,
doing a little extra this morning is Mr. Barnes.
We started out.
