Well, good morning. I am, who's here? I don't know if I can read. Let's see. Alexander's here. Hi, excited to see what Father Fish has prepared. Father Fish is excited to see it too. And Tam Shepherd. Hi, Tam. Chris Trapp. Good morning, guys. I'm sitting here at my daughter's home. I'll give you a view of the place. This building was built, if we can get a decent view of it, in the 1760s. That white section was built in the 1820s. So this is the oldest house on Kent Island. Kent Island is across the Bay Bridge from Annapolis. So let me show you the front yard, panning around. This is the front yard, and that's the Chesapeake Bay. And if you look off to, I don't know whether it's the left or the right, that's the Bay Bridge, Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and these beautiful grounds. It's about 25 acres. On the property, my daughter is a very high achiever who's gone way beyond anything I ever managed to put together. But I like to think that my life's work was the seed for hers, because she has gone in very much the same direction I did. She runs a school, actually, a series of therapy centers for autistic children, really a remarkable program. But I'm not here to talk about my daughter. it's really hard for me to read the text is so tidy so forgive me if i don't pick up your comments i really can barely see them paul is and Sam and and Emily Emily, I can't read it maybe it's her, I don't know what it is anyway I wanted to come on and talk with you this morning kind of give you a status report, an update on where things are at. As you know, I have discontinued the daily morning live streams. After doing them every day, pretty much for a year, I noticed that the YouTube algorithm has reduced activity and promotion on my channel to an absolute bare minimum I um I have posted videos that three months ago would have gotten 5,000 views in a couple of days and now they're getting 300 views so the the it's just not being put out the the the reach has dropped substantially and it's it's my fault I did not understand about live streaming and that it really is not something that um that you that the algorithm pays any attention to at all so in effect it's treated that as though it's not activity there that's where we are so my game plan is to get it back and to get it back quickly uh let's say Chris is saying I'm going to do a Twitch. We have a Twitch and I want to go on some new platforms. I really am totally ignorant of what they are and how to do that. So as we're able to we'll do it. So here's the there are three things I want to do. Three kind of directions. One is I want to shift the focus or refine the focus of the channel from substrate-balanced aquarium to living aquarium so that a living aquarium may not be a balanced aquarium. It may even be an aquarium with a bare bottom or with gravel. It could be anything, but it has to have microorganisms. in it in sufficient quantity to be able to take care of the waste biomass that's being created by the fish, shrimp, whatever. Many tanks are living aquariums in that way. So I want to be able to focus on that and reward people for their ability to maintain a living aquarium it's really even easier than substrate because all you have to do is nothing just let it sit there with a fish in it and it'll happen all by itself so that's one thing living aquarium but i think the the uh the term living aquarium will have a certain impact that will be that will be helpful so want to be able to go in that kind of a direction and really feature people who are doing living aquariums that are balanced aquariums now what I'm thinking about so far as streaming is concerned is doing one day a week I'm thinking Sunday evening but i'll take recommendations on that it it will not be in this this week uh i don't believe it'll be in the following although i should be home so we'll see anyway um that's streaming the focus of the channel and a third actually four items a third item is i want to do some videos for children. I think if we can do like resurrection video and teach children how to, the horrors of it all, to go out into their yard, field, whatever, and create a resurrection jar, that will certainly teach children about being able to maintain life in a small container. So I want to do that and I'd like to do a few other things for children. The final thing I want to discuss briefly is, in order to do this, I think we need to make it a team effort. There are about 300 of you who are plugged in pretty regularly to Father Fish and who seem to be supportive of and interested in the campaign that I'm on here. So I want to find ways to solicit your assistance. And we'll talk more about that as we get down the road. But I really want to make this a team effort and see if we can put together something I have not seen anyone else do. on youtube and that is create a real team channel we have a cause we have a purpose the cause and the purpose is to is to teach people and encourage people to create balanced aquariums deep substrate dirted aquariums even and that's very much a cause and i think we can work together to uh to further this cause so those are the those are the things i'm thinking about um when i get back i'll start doing a few videos that are going to explain this and talk about it in more detail so the first group of videos i'm going to do will be aimed at you it'll be aimed at the people who are most interested in father fish and most supportive of father fish. That is a way of putting together this team effort. I'm trying to read. I need to get in the shadow. Excuse me a second. I'm trying to read some of the comments and that sun is hanging on my camera. Wonderful. Yeah, I think you wrote a note on my phone, and it's awkward. I've not done phone streaming before, so it's a little awkward. This is a little more of, we can't see it. I'll post a few pictures. I've got a few pictures of the yard here. My daughter has built a playhouse for her nine-year-old daughter that is the most delightful thing I think I've ever seen. It's just kind of amazing. So anyway, I'm here in Maryland and taking heart, taking stock, and looking to get back and doing some new and exciting things. so we're gonna we're gonna make this fun it's gonna be okay we're gonna have a good time and we're gonna look for ways to expand i do want to get on some other platforms uh i know a number of you are already on discord and that is a fabulous conversation going on there if you are not there yet by all means go there uh if you look on the top page of the community button there will be a link for discord click on that and and find a way to get over there you'll be very welcome you'll be cared for um you'll you'll be brought right into the family it's it's really really quite nice So we're at almost 15 minutes, 14 minutes I've been chatting away. And in truth, you don't need membership, although we would very much appreciate membership in YouTube. it's five dollars a month for membership that does get you advanced and there are advanced levels on uh um discord that are that get you more deeply involved in in in the program uh but it's not critical you don't have to do that to get there and and to be able to chat yeah um if you have trouble getting on we do have some ways to help i'm not sure i know how we can put you in touch with troy for example who's who's over there virtually all the time and can help you access it a few people have had trouble getting on i'll just uh plug away at it and uh what we'll try to do is post some live links um to make it easier but we'll we'll find a way to do that to make it really easy to be able to get on discord because it's a vital part of what we're doing thank you cm i'm so happy you're back i miss you you're dear thank you so much good okay so emily Emily downloaded it um if you download it and you can't get on then unload it and reload it or unload it and click on the button and just go on and it'll it should all load the organic fish tank right absolutely mike that's good i like that mike organic is your tank organic is your aquarium organic doesn't mean you eat out of it it means it's a living organism quite so excellent alexander absolutely great wonderful yeah i think we're going to have a lot of fun with this one of the things i i'm i'm thinking about is is um setting up some protocols for going into other streams and um talking about father fish i want to make sure when we do that that it's done in a way that's respectful and appropriate and not simply slinging it out there because that would do more harm than good you know we we want we want to communicate with people we don't want to uh snowball them you know throw rocks on them whatever we don't want to do that we want to we want to be able to share and participate with folks and i think we can do that with uh with with our campaign to help every single every single fish person on on the fish tube to have a living aquarium i was going to say ergonomic no it's not there an organic aquarium a living organic aquarium so uh and and then uh if we can find a way to document people doing that then we can we can give awards to people who um who are really good at promoting organic aquariums and organic and and promoting the Father Fish channel so anyway i think we'll have fun. We're going to try to make a team effort on this. That's the key thing. See if we can really pull together as a genuine show and make it happen. So I love you all. I'm looking forward to getting back. I may do one more of these before I get back. We'll see. It depends how inspired I get, I guess. But be thinking about some of these things just quickly in review. I cannot afford to do daily streams the problem is it takes too much energy out of me and i don't have the energy left then to be able to do videos and i have got to do videos that's absolutely critical uh so but we're gonna do at least one live stream a week and in discord we can do streaming all day long and all night long i mean it's it's just part of the process we can be live and chatting together as small groups uh um with video and audio we haven't started doing that yet but i know we can so we'll be that that option will be available uh second thing is i wanted I want to do children videos so be thinking about topics and ways we can do that we can bring people up and do joint things maybe even bring children up and do do what uh videos directly with children I don't know if we'll need a separate channel or if we just need to distinguish those streams as for children. I think we can do it that way. We need to learn the ropes, but I think it'd be just really important to do a few videos for children.
