James Kaufman, World News Report Today.
We've had a huge explosion and fire at an Ohio warehouse,
and we do have casualties.
Two workers were dispatched after a huge explosion,
actually two explosions,
that sparked a large fire at an Ohio plant, according to officials.
Two workers passed away
and several others were injured after two explosions
tore through an industrial recycling facility in Toledo, Ohio,
sparking a massive fire
and sending thick black smoke billowing over the area.
Yes, another one, believe it or not.
It's daily.
The blast erupted shortly before 5
a.m. at Brent Industries during a shift change,
Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong said,
according to the Associated Press.
Firefighters later found the bodies of a male
and female employee inside the heavily damaged building.
Two or three other workers suffered injuries.
Video from the scene showed flames engulfing portions
of the facility as fire crews surrounded the building.
Aerial images showed extensive destruction of nearly all the roof gone
and several walls blown out, according to the Associated Press.
Armstrong said crews initially faced hazardous materials
and runoff and a threat of additional
explosions as they searched for victims
and accounted for the employees. Environmental
officials said air monitoring detected no hazardous threat.
Demetrius Langston, a resident
who lives around a half mile away,
said he felt the force of the blasts and shockwaves came down
the block he said then we all heard
a second boom you could feel both of them the fire continued
burning into the afternoon officials said
that there was no preliminary indications of what
caused these explosions authorities urged residents
who could see or smell smoke to stay
away from the area and keep the windows and doors closed
and shelter in place Brent Industries based
in Alabama provides textile reconditioning
and industrial recycling services and uses
mineral spirits in its cleaning process according
to the Associated Press this is a highly flammable
liquid fire officials said the tanks containing
the petroleum-based solvent
at the Toledo facility
though their role in the explosion remains unknown the company has
has a history of deadly accidents and safety violations,
according to the Associated Press.
A 2015 explosion at its Alabama plant dispatched one worker
and injured several others
after mineral spirit vapors ignited inside a washing machine.
OSHA later cited the company for six violations and fined it $27,000.
Brent Industries could not immediately
be reached by Fox News Digital for comment.
Please share, folks, and give us a thumbs up on the way out.
This is getting ridiculous.
We have a warehouse exploding every single day.
