I want to expand and learn some different painting techniques. One I have always liked is painting with a palette knife! I mixed up some blues and black with Liquithicks and used a small palette knife to paint the butterfly on the canvas. This is much tougher than I thought it would be, but I still like the overall outcome! Next time, I will will work from the inside out, I think it will be easier to do the colors and then the black outline instead of the way I did it.

I used some gold paint and did a few coats for the background. I also traced out the butterfly before painting so I had a guide to go on for where I would put the colors.

While I picked blue for this, I think this would be really lovely with red, orange and yellow for a monarch butterfly.
