A driver is behind bars tonight after
leading police on a 45-minute chase
that reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
It happened early this morning.
It was a dangerous chase that moved through
several different residential streets.
Fox 4's Lori Brown live in Dallas with more on this story.
Lori.
Steve, the chase started just before 1:30 this morning in Siegelville
when police officers saw
a silver Ford Mustang going more than 100 miles per hour.
When officers attempted to pull the driver over on westbound 175,
the Mustang took off, leading officers on a 45-minute chase.
Here's a look at the video our photographer Terry VanSickle captured
of the chase at Samuel Boulevard and Winslow Avenue.
The driver made multiple laps through South Dallas
and then went through Pleasant Grove and East Dallas.
The Dallas Police Department was overhead with their chopper
as the 45-minute chase finally came to an end.
the Mustang was down to three tires and a worn wheel.
The driver then crashed into a grassy area
and then a fence at East RL Thornton Freeway and Bank Street.
He then took off on foot and
hid inside a shed on Garland Avenue, not far from I-30.
He tried to barricade the door despite
officers asking him multiple times to surrender.
Neighbors say it was stressful to be woken up to
the commotion and they are thankful that it ended peacefully.
My husband got up and he looked out
the window and he's like there's a lot
of police you know going around here and so he just kind of
he didn't come outside I was like just don't go
outside we don't know what's going on but that's
when I realized it was outside of our home.
DPD officers fired pepper ball rounds into the shed
the suspect came out and was arrested.
Siegelville police transported the suspect to their jail he is
expected to be arraigned on charges
of felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle the department
