James Kaufman, World News Report today.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're in a heavy geomagnetic storm,
and have been since yesterday afternoon.
Right when I told you the next shoot
or drop would put us in a geomagnetic storm.
We're going all the way up to a G3 geomagnetic storm here,
and that's on the estimated planetary KP index.
It's a weight of solar winds and plasma combined
that is hitting Earth at these four different areas here are points.
The estimated planetary KP index
is the one exclusively used by NASA and NOAA,
been upgraded and measures in third
of holes, i.e. 3.3, 3.67, 4, 4.3, 4.67, etc.
where all the other KP indexes only measure in holes.
So this is a much more up-to-date KP index,
and it brings us
into a KP7.33,
which would be a G3 geomagnetic storm,
and that would be from 10 to 1 last night central time.
We're currently still in a G2 geomagnetic storm,
And they expect this to continue on and off into tomorrow.
And here we check our KP7.33
suggested G3 geomagnetic storm.
We're currently in a G2 geomagnetic storm.
And we could very well fall back into a G3
or continue as we're going here.
I'm going to show you what they believe will happen.
and these are just forecasts i'll
also show you what created this mess if you don't remember
all right to start off
with we've had eight m-class solar flares today no x-class solar
flares but eight m-class solar flares we had some
very strong m-class solar flares at the end of the
day yesterday so we're dealing with around 11
or 12 m-class solar flares that have a chance of
being geo-effective towards earth we'll see activity
from well some of these m-class solar
flares now if y'all want to remember what's causing
the weather right now take a look at
seven day chart and we'll jump back
to this m flare here in this x 1.11 flare right here so
we're enjoying this time period right here
and as you can see that puts us right into about this
this time period uh with a regular speed
of a coronal mass ejection now please remember
I said this is going to probably be ongoing.
Look at all these M flares and close to X flares that we have
that happened the very next day on the 1st of July.
This means the 30th of June.
Now, the 1st of July, we had that M 8.57,
the almost X flare I just showed you about,
which will be geo-effective towards Earth.
It will continue this storm.
And late yesterday, and let's see if it's on here,
it is, peaking at 1859, we had an M6.38.
And we discussed that really most all of the three complex sunspots
were popping off at the same time sympathetically.
Again, we've had eight M-class solar flares today,
mostly generated by AR-4479, and yesterday's
M-class solar flares were generated by AR-4478.
We've had one M-2 flare generated by 4480.
Now, some of those flares yesterday almost
are certainly going to be geo-effective towards Earth,
but because of how far 4479 has moved around towards the outgoing limb,
well, we have to flip a coin on some of that stuff.
Today, we had a 20% chance of having an X-class solar flare.
Today is far from over.
A 70% chance of having an M-class solar flare.
We've had eight of them, and we're running a C baseline,
a very heavy C baseline, a C3.62 currently.
It's a busy day, ladies and gentlemen.
Now, here you can see AR4479.
It's the only Delta-class sunspot still
on the Earth-facing side of our solar disk.
It is very active currently.
4478 and 4480, these are the ones that have been active.
we've seen no real activity out of 4481 we have
a sunspot here you can see it's
about to have to be named it looks like it could
be fairly complex so total of
four sunspots on the Earth-facing side
of the disk plus one that probably needs
to be named only one Delta class sunspot
and one beta gamma class sunspot and two
simple sunspots now this picture was just taken 39 minutes ago
so wow are we getting some up-to-date
information you can see 7-9 there is just a constant eruption now NASA
and NOAA are already
pointing out this coronal hole it should
be central disk in about 40 hours and then we can
add another 40 hours for those solar winds
to reach earth from that coronal hole unless for
some reason the canopy covers it back up uh
this is the sunspot that has been named eight one
and here's the sunspot coming around
the limb right here that will be named probably by days
all right here we are today with our G2 G3 they've
been doing a pretty good job here
of guesstimating unless they armchair quarterback
this was put together today so they very well
could have done it after they had
these numbers very well could have done it after they had these
numbers and it looks like they did unless they happen
to get it perfectly correct uh you can
see that we should be leaving that first part of the geomagnetic storm
and at some point tomorrow
july 5th we should revisit a lighter geomagnetic storm according
to NOAA's Kp index forecast
breakdown from july 4th 5th
and 6th now they're not great at this unless they armchair quarterback
it which means well write it down after the fact
so we'll see what happens well i guess the story
today here is eight M-flares out of that sunspot
group AR4479 and that was probably yesterday yes
it was that was the bigger flare yesterday eight M-flares
and three at the close of day yesterday
we have 11 M-flares we were might have
to possibly deal with y'all know that earth is
actually connected to the Sun on this outgoing limb
and that is our geomagnetic
connection to our Sun
so when we have a big explosion on the outgoing limb there's a
good chance that the energy could actually follow
the magnetic connection
or rope to Earth right here okay and actually move down that magnetic
connection or magnetic rope
and we could be affected by anything on the outgoing
eight today and a combination of three
and that was the second one of the two all right
might remember my workup from yesterday easily
seen two very powerful one after another all right
really what i want you to see here is basically there
is plasma leaving our sun most all of the
day i mean just all of the day there's plasma leaving our sun here
so expect and it's mostly
coming from AR4479 in this corner up here
but please expect that there's a chance that one of
these chromospheric ejections could impact earth all right i want
to show you guys most of the eight
flares did impact earth as far as the x-ray
the x-rays made to earth this is our d region
lowest level of the atmosphere absorption prediction center
and you can see that everyone
got a large dose of x-ray radiation today here
on planet earth for the fourth of july happy
fourth of july folks and you can see that well
uh this goes on forever i'm gonna speed it up
speed it up a bit so we can see some
of these flares we won't be able to see all eight but
we'll be able to see a good amount of them
and then you can see now it's over the u.s i don't know if it's
had a good influence of the u.s yet
but the day is far from over wow what's the story of the day here
Well, it looks like they're calling out
another G3 geomagnetic storm right here
This is the first one we saw today.
This one, we didn't see it on the estimated planetary Kp index,
but that is a G3 geomagnetic storm right there within
the last six hours.
So we're still in heavy storm conditions.
Take a look at what we're seeing here.
plasma went up as high as there's 34 there's 40
centimeters cubed higher than they guesstimated
so solar winds went up to 629 i thought they might go
a little faster than that 638 i was
guessing closer to 700 kilometers per second uh
but we started so low here at 386 and that plasma
pushed those solar winds in front of it it did double their speed
but doubling only
brought it up to about 640 you can see
that plasma did reach a higher level than we
thought it would that 40 centimeters cube
37 where'd I grab that 40 had to be right there
outside so that's some heavy plasma everything
we uh well the forecast indicated and it's like
we're back in space weather territory here
with plasma at about 19 20 23.6 and now that it's left
it's under 10 again our shields they were down the whole time
or oriented south they're now
oriented north which is really going to do us well uh
the red line shows us if our shields are up or
down uh and this middle line here uh well anything below like
this purple area that's outlined here
bad news bad news for earth and that's right
when the heavier plasma was hitting and it probably
this heavy plasma here probably destroyed the shields
and forced them below to go down basically
and we have our shields back above that zero line
which means our shields are back up they're
oriented to the north and we should
be pretty safe you can see temperatures went up with the plasma
and the solar winds now they're back to exactly normal
to exactly normal this is Discover Solar
wind satellite orbits
at 1 million miles above earth takes about 40 minutes for what you're
seeing here to reach earth jumping over
to ACE real-time space weather satellite also at Lagrange
1 million miles above earth Discover Phoenix
its replacement well folks they're giving us data
It's a day old, and it's like it went crazy yesterday.
Space weather might have hit it so hard,
it might have disoriented the spacecraft,
or they're holding back information.
This one's sometimes easier to read,
and we're not going to be able to read it
because this is for yesterday,
and this information looks to be, well, corrupted.
All right, over to SDO,
HMI Magnetogram, and C4479.
It really, really looks mean.
It looks like it's a reverse polarity sunspot
with the black over the white,
but hard to tell at that angle.
We have the 4480 going around,
4478, is that right?
Still in play.
And this sunspot has been named.
There's not much to it, 4481.
And then you can see that we have a dangerous sunspot
by the polarities here coming around.
I see white over black in the southern hemisphere.
And then white over black
in the southern hemisphere is reverse polarity.
It should always be black negative over white
in the southern hemisphere.
And white over black,
positive white over negative black in the northern hemisphere.
All right, this was taken at 7.06
this morning on the 4th of July.
see that coronal hole is coming into play unless
the canopy decides to cover it and these are our three
very active sunspot groups this is 81 that's just
been named i guess this is 82 that will soon be
named so get ready it should be in play by tomorrow
or if not the next day again this is
Soho at 284 angstroms
and this is a simple pressure model to show you that we are in fact
in a geomagnetic storm caused by the plasma hitting
our bow. This is our planet in the
middle here the daytime and nighttime side.
Remember it spins 360 degrees every 24 hours.
It's moving to the left here at about 67,000 miles an hour,
orbiting our sun once every year.
And what we see in red is heavy plasma
and solar winds nailing that bow.
So that's what you're seeing, folks.
It's the real deal.
So what is today's reality?
Well, three late inflers,
two large ones yesterday, eight inflers today.
Most of this stuff's not going to be geo-effective towards Earth
Although there is a lot of plasma leaving our sun currently
Now, what else are we looking at here?
Well, we're seeing that there
was really two spots of G3 geomagnetic storm
If this is a 6.67,
which it is
And for some reason they did not mark it as a G3
They marked it as a G2 geomagnetic storm
and that was the last shooter drop by the way
so we're still in well we were in some pretty
nasty plasma that went
to only about 20 centimeters cubed if you recall on solo
and i think we're about done for the day uh
although i'm not sure if the next shooter drop
because it is a three hour period will show
that we're still in a geomagnetic storm
we're not okay we're not everything is basically back
to normal as of now and we're looking for a
second impact at some time either this evening
or tomorrow that said god bless each and every
one of y'all please share and subscribe
and well give us a thumbs up guys very important
And remember that anything's possible in Bizarro World.
God bless.
Happy Fourth of July.
And for those of y'all that are still here,
I wanted to show y'all that all the revenue was taken away
from my four-hour, four-hour live show last night
on the fireworks intro
Seven or eight hundred viewers.
And we had two companies taken away,
each with a 17 second 17 second i've already
uh appealed and asked asked to go to court
uh 17 seconds on each one of these deals i'll dismiss
this one uh on two different songs
unbelievable god bless you guys drop us a super chat
or a uh well buy us a cup of coffee if you
can. It's tough to keep this going
when you put four hours of work in and they take all your
revenue. Well, have a wonderful 4th of July and I know I'll be back.
