Victoria amazonica is a species of giant water lily native to the Amazon River basin. It is famous for being one of the largest aquatic plants in the world.

Key Features
Massive Leaves: Its round leaves can grow up to 3 meters (10 feet) in diameter and float on the surface of the water.

Strong Structure: The underside of each leaf has a complex, strong network of ribs filled with air. This structure allows a single leaf to support weight up to 45 kg (100 lbs) if distributed evenly.

Large Flowers: Its flowers grow up to 30 cm (12 inches) wide. They bloom at night, opening white on the first night to attract pollinating beetles, and turning pink or purple on the second night.
