Founder of the 16th annual Angels of Life event,
raising support for the Georgia Transplant Foundation.
And this year, one of the sponsors, Rose and Crown Tavern,
helping to support the cause,
Executive Chef Joshua Hill is here
with a little something sweet for the season.
We got his new Great Pumpkin Cheesecake,
which sounds pretty amazing.
So it's so good to have both of you here.
Welcome.
Thank you.
Hi.
All right, so let's start by talking about you, Lester.
Quite a story here, two heart transplants.
I had two heart transplants.
Wow.
December 4th, 2010 is my second one.
That's when we started Angels of Life.
We had our first one in 2011.
This is our 16th annual Angels of Life,
benefiting the Georgia Transplant Foundation.
Sure.
So you know firsthand how important that it is to have support.
Yes, definitely.
Yeah.
Okay, now tell me about Rose and Crown, the connection here.
Well, Rose and Crown is a sponsor of our event,
and we have a giving brunch at Rose and Crown
a few weeks before the event,
which I think we had about 150 people there this year.
And they're sponsoring.
And I think we're just showing a little bit
of what Rose and Crown has to offer, too.
I love it.
You know, it's good to have community support.
It is, definitely.
And so it's great to be able to highlight them.
But I got to tell you,
I was sold as soon as you said pumpkin cheesecake.
So tell me about this.
So I'm Chef Josh.
I work at Rose and Crown.
We do some traditional pub fare upstairs
and international steakhouse downstairs.
This is one of my favorites, actually.
I got really excited about this dish.
I've done pumpkin previously with all the traditional things.
Stepped out a little bit.
Starts with whole pumpkins.
They're roasted, so we get some nice caramelization in there.
And then I serve them with a cranberry, rosemary, black pepper,
aqua dulce, toasted oats, and some fried rosemary.
It's a little play on pumpkin that most people aren't familiar with.
That's what I want to ask you about, because
that's an attention getter.
You don't typically hear about combining.
that flavor with pumpkin well i mean it's
on the same plate usually you don't think of it as part
of like if you if you really think about you know all
of the things that you eat around the holidays
these things are there and they're often eaten together
but most people wouldn't put them on a
plate um but at the end of the day you know
everything's truly about balance when it comes
to food so if you get a little bit from here
a little bit from there it all comes together
appropriately so what was the reaction
and folks love it uh my favorite thing to hear is i don't
like pumpkin but that's amazing hey hey i think
there's one problem right here though what we
don't have forks i'm gonna call it out i brought tasting spoons
but it looks amazing and trust me
that will certainly get tried so i'm
so glad to know that that Rose and Crown is a community
partner and sponsor and all of this but let's talk about
the event so this is happening on
sunday right it is sunday we'll have about five
six hundred people there we benefit the Georgia
transplant foundation that helps people that are waiting
for a transplant and you might be able to
pay your house payment your electricity bill you can't get
to the hospital if you have a child
maybe they're in the hospital you're not going
to work you're going so that's going to put a
crimp in your budget but so the Georgia Transplant Foundation helps pay
for medicine and things like
that i can imagine this is something
that it's obviously important to you but you you have to
feel proud to know that i mean come
on for 16 years you've been putting on this event that's
benefiting the Georgia Transplant we've donated 1.2 million
so far almost wow to hit the 1.2
million mark this Sunday that's incredible it really
is so how about tickets tickets still

um we do interviews of our main sponsors um how
they got involved and she's working the pink carpet
that night we call it the pink carpet
which is fantastic not the red carpet yeah i love it i love it
so it's been 16 years what are your
goals and hopes for the future what do you want
to see you know maybe it's year 17 you're 18 you're
19 well we're taking baby steps toward that 2 million you know
