Protests have started up again in parts
of France after last weekend's riots.
They were largely peaceful as French officials prepared
for more on Saturday the 24th.
Our foreign correspondent, Jeff Paul, has more.
Thousands of people returning to the streets of Paris on Thursday,
calling for more school funding and lower living costs.
It comes after a court overturned
the city's protest ban following France's worst riots in years.
This time, organizers said they agreed to remain
in one place to comply with security concerns.
If you are only anger and violence, what are you going to do?
And this is sad for everybody.
France is now preparing for potentially dangerous protests on Saturday.
After meeting with intelligence officials,
French President Emmanuel Macron says any illegitimate
demonstrations would be banned in the coming days.
Those organized by groups such as trade unions will be allowed,
but they could be diverted along alternative routes
to protect businesses.
These measures are being implemented within
the framework of our law and allows us to
restore order. The rules are simple
and I believe it's just common sense.
Last weekend's riots led
to more than 2,400 arrests after protesters clashed with police,
torched cars and damaged stores.
President Trump is blaming France's immigration policies for the
violence and says it should serve
as a wake-up call ahead of the midterm elections.
What the hell happened to France?
This is what they want to see for our country.
We're not going to let that happen to our country.
Meanwhile, Macron says French officials will meet with students
and labor unions next week to discuss their demands.
