Detroit neighborhoods voted among best in the country for Black singles

The largest dating and social app for Black singles has just voted downtown Detroit and Midtown as two of the best neighborhoods in the country for dating, which means singles, it's time for y'all to start connecting. So joining me now to talk about it, Amber Cooper, head of branding for the Black dating app. Amber, how are you? I'm well. How are you? Hey, good, good. Thank you for joining us this afternoon. So let's jump right into this. Why are downtown Detroit and Midtown Detroit two of the best places for connection? You know, the data doesn't lie. I think we really like to listen to our users here at BLK and what we heard, the feedback from there, is it's easier to meet people. There's more options to meet people in that area. So when it comes to meeting people at IRL, you know, sparking that connection, seeing what the vibe is, that's where they have the most luck. What constitutes as, or what I should say, for many of your users, what are they looking for these days? Well, they're just looking to see compatibility and what that chemistry is right off the bat. You know, they don't like to waste time. They don't like to text back and forth a bunch of times or let weeks go by. They like to find out just right there and there. And, you know, if it works, great. If not, they're fine with going their separate ways. So aside from being a dating app that really helps out Black singles, what helps BLK stand out? Because there are a multitude of dating apps in the app store. So what helps BLK and what helps its users the most? Yeah, I think overall, BLK is a space, it's a safe space where Black singles can come, they can feel understood, you know, they don't have to apply as many layers as they may have in other aspects of their life. So yes, there are different options, but here at BLK, you know, it's show up as you are, you don't have to explain different nuances, you meet people who just get certain things. And, you know, it kind of lowers that pressure overall, and it opens the door for more connection, meeting more people, like-minded people, both digitally and IRL. And for people who may not know what IRL means, please explain. IRL is in real life, and so we recently launched BLK Events, and it's where members can discover events in their city, like Detroit. You can reserve a spot at the event. You can invite friends. You can add it to your calendar. So we really want people to see what we created that portal for them. You talk about events. What events are coming up next for BLK IRL? I won't say it in real life, but I want to say IRL. Yes, I know. I love IRL. I've adopted it myself. We have a lot of fun Halloween events.
