2026 Week 9: Westlake vs Lake Travis

There's just three weeks left in the high school football regular season. The playoff race is starting to take shape as we kick off week nine of Fox 7 Friday football. We've got Dripping Springs pushing closer to a district championship, while Gerald welcomes the state's number one ranked team. But we open with the ultimate local showdown, the Battle of the Lakes. Lake Travis recently opened their new Lee Johnson Ford Field at Cavalier Stadium. Cavs open to pick up their first ever win there against Westlake, who's won four of the last five in this rivalry. LT strikes first. Jason Carter, yeah, son of head coach Hank Carter, hits great. Garrick there in stride for the 53-yard touchdown. Cavs up 7-0. Westlake answers with a big play of their own. Check out freshman running back C.J. Jones takes it 27 yards for the score, ties it up at 7 apiece. The Chiefs with a nice finish to end the first quarter as quarterback Patton Jones giving the Cavs a little Johnny football treatment, dodging and darting his way for a 20-yard gain. And that sets up Jones for his second TD of the game to put Westlake up 14-7. Chaps have now won five of the last six against Lake Travis. Westlake takes it 38-17.
