Satellite imagery reveals that China has completed the construction of a sophisticated Circularly Disposed Antenna Array (CDAA) at the Bajucal spy base in Cuba. Located near Havana, this signals intelligence (SIGINT) facility is designed to intercept and geolocate radio transmissions, posing a significant surveillance threat to U.S. military activities in the Caribbean and the southeastern U.S.
James Kaufman, World News Report Today.
Satellite imagery shows Cuba's Chinese Bajucal spy base completed.
Now we do have the satellite imagery.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies published
a report using geospatial intelligence
to show the construction of a circularly disposed antenna array
in Cuba has been completed.
The CSIS states the circularly disposed antenna array in Cuba,
just 240 miles from Miami, Florida,
could be used to monitor or intercept all radio transmissions across
a wide range of frequencies in the region.
The D.C.-based think tank added that the site is owned and linked
to the Chinese government and could be used to track sensitive
U.S. military communications and activity across the Caribbean,
the Gulf of America, and the southeastern U.S.
Now, folks, this is a 2025 picture of some of the construction.
These are cables running to a center building
here, and this is a May 2026 completion
of the entire circular antenna,
completed inner antenna ring and completed outer antenna ring,
and we'll show you the building in just a bit.
This taken right from the CISI's report
at an expansive SIGINT site in Bajucal, near Havana,
recent satellite imagery shows construction work completed
on a new large circularly disposed antenna array known as a CDAA.
Over the last two years,
an antenna field at the northeast end of the facility
has been converted from a linear antenna grid to a CDAA.
Imagery published by the CSIS in April 2025
captured the ongoing groundwork to lay cables
between the antennas and the central control facility.
Construction now appears to be complete.
The facility has very likely begun operations.
The original SIGINT facility,
meaning Signal Intelligence, was located right here.
You might be able to see the dome here,
and it's Chinese-controlled since 2014, it looks like.
I did zoom in, and the original SIGINT facility was operated,
or has been operated, since 2014 by the Chinese government.
The array of 32 circular antennas,
19 outer and 13 inner, is larger and more capable
than any Cuban CDAA previously observed by the CSIS.
CDAAs are primarily used for high-frequency direction findings,
which involves intercepting and geolocating incoming radio
transmissions over a very wide range of frequencies.
From Bajucal's location in Cuba Northwest,
the CDAA could improve the ability of the Cuban authorities,
or I guess the Chinese, to monitor sensitive U.S. activities
in the Caribbean and across the southeastern seaboard.
U.S. naval and air operations in the region have escalated amid
the Trump administration's prioritization of the Western Hemisphere,
increasing the potential value of monitoring
U.S. movements in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.
And there you have it, folks.
The Chinese have a large stake in Cuba.
I bet we didn't know that.
Russia also has missiles in Cuba.
I don't know if y'all can see the central building here.
It's a very small central building.
And that's it, folks.
A highly sensitive circularly array antenna situation
that was built to monitor U.S. operations
in the Gulf of Mexico, in the southern states,
and all the way into the Caribbean.
God bless.
