A 30-minute sleep meditation for anxiety and worry, in a soft British voice — a quiet reminder that every wave falls, and the calm always returns.
Anxiety comes in waves. One rises, and another follows, and soon the whole sea seems to be moving at once. But not one wave has ever stayed. Every wave breaks and returns to the sea, and every tide that goes out comes back in.
This is a meditation for the nights when your mind will not settle and everything feels unsteady. You do not have to stop the waves. You only have to rest on the shore, and let the tide return in its own time.
Dream Voyage is a quiet space at the end of the day. Each week, a new night meditation — 30 minutes of soft British narration to help you release the day, settle your mind, and move gently into sleep. Not breathwork. Not body scans. Just a calm voice, a quiet theme, and space to rest.
For best results, listen lying down with dim or no light. Let the words move past you — there is nothing you need to do.
🌙 New night meditations every Sunday.
Part of the series: Night Meditations | Dream Voyage
This poetic meditation guides the listener through the experience of restlessness and anxiety at night. By using the metaphor of the ocean tide, it encourages acceptance of emotional instability, framing unsteadiness not as a failure or a break, but as a natural sign of being alive and rhythmic.
You are lying in the dark and the
day is still going on inside you.
The lights are on, the house
is quiet, the mind has
not yet been told.
Perhaps it is turning over
a conversation.
Perhaps it
is counting what tomorrow will ask.
Perhaps
tightness has
no name
and the feeling
but the ground
is not quite steady.
You are not doing this wrong.
This is simply where you are tonight,
and you do not have to leave it.
You only have to let
something wider come
and sit beside it.
The day has gone out.
Time goes out,
leaving the shore bare
and shining behind it.
There is no one
to be tonight.
And so you
are slowly.
Know why?
At the very end of the evening,
the sand is cool
and firm beneath your feet.
The sky is low and pale.
The smell of salt.
The sea is a soft
gray breathing in.
When
the mind
is like
this and
another
goes
wrong,
see to be
moving.
If you
really
simply
see most
of us, to
believe in
everything
as steady,
when every worry has been answered,
when every way has been stopped,
that the sea has never once
been still,
and it has never once been lost.
Tonight we
will watch
time stand,
as the sand
stands,
begins far up,
as a slow lift it
gathers it rises
and for a moment it
seems enormous last
light in its crest
runs up
the sand
and slides
back
the sea and
the next
one begins
lives like
this it
seems
to fill
the whole
this is how
it will all
you know that
to remember
inside
purchase way
of your life
the ones
your
breath,
every one
of them
went out,
you did not,
you stood
on the
shore,
do, just
the sea,
beyond,
slowly,
it
does
not
come,
nor
does
it go
up,
like
the
sea,
energy
has
drawn,
uncertainty
has drawn,
they simply wish,
to have
slipped away,
over the sand,
can feel, lost,
feel as though,
The sea
is leaving,
but the tide
is not
closely
of the air.
It is
neither
going
nor coming.
Nobody has ever seen
a tide forget to return.
Not one in all the ages
of the world has
drawn back in you,
has not gone.
It is resting, the
shadow itself.
it will come
as quietness or
feeling itself
that brought
you the thing
unsteady.
The body says
something is wrong.
The ground is moving.
The sea, everything
in it, is moving.
And nothing in it
is wrong.
The living thing
is never. The heart
is never still.
The breath
is never still.
The sea
there's never dull.
Unsteadiness is not a sign
that something has broken.
This the sign
something is alive.
It's rhythm.
You do not have to make
the sea stop in order
to wrap beside it.
You may
lie down
on the sand
a little.
The sea,
the sound
of them,
the sound.
You have
been here
If on
other
nights,
this one,
with the
water
and love
to be so,
it never goes
out, returns,
goes out.
Sometimes, when
the calmness
returns, every
night, chase it.
More than you chase, you
do not have to perceive the place.
You do not have
to be calm to deserve.
You can't stand
on the shore
this night as you are,
With the water
still moving
its own time
The sea does not need you
to keep it going
But you has
gone from
the beach
The sky is deep
and soft
And one star
comes up
The sea has
reached
its lowest
point
Slowly
sliding
the
sand,
smoothing
it
Washing away
what's left there
Your
foot
behind
the
star
How
you
can
hear
it
breathing
as
world
is
coming
back
as it
always
has
now.
