Judge Or Criminal Or Both! Young Judge Shoots 10 Month Old Puppy!

James Kaufman on his report today. Youngest judge in Pennsylvania under investigation after shooting 10-month-old puppy. District Judge Hanif Johnson became Pennsylvania's youngest ever judge when he was elected in 2019 at the age of 26. is now the subject of an active investigation by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office after he shot a 10-month-old puppy on March 10th. Johnson, now 35 years of age, was walking his dog in Harrisburg when he encountered a loose puppy named Lux. According to the authorities, he fired a single shot, striking the animal through the shoulder blade and out the back, shattering several bones. Injury was so severe that Lux required emergency surgery and amputation of his front leg to survive. The puppy's family had been searching for her for hours after she escaped. The puppy's family could not afford the veterinarian's bill for the emergency surgery, so they were forced to surrender the dog to Love and Peace, a local animal rescue non-profit. Lux would have needed to be euthanized without the emergency surgery. She was shot through her shoulder blade and then out through her back, and it destroyed several bones, so she needed to have her front leg amputated. Lux is now recovering in a foster home. Johnson, called the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, himself, shortly after the incident, reported the shooting, telling officers it was out of necessity. Harrisburg police, collecting evidence at this scene, immediately turned the case over to the Attorney General's office to avoid any conflict of interest, as both the city police and the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office regularly appear before Johnson in court. Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo confirmed that he recused his office in the same manner that same day. Quote, my attorneys appear before this district judge for preliminary hearings all the time, Chardo said. I invoked the conflict and immediately referred the investigation to the office of the Attorney General. The Attorney General's office has confirmed it is investigating but has released no further details, but I'm personally sure nothing will happen to this P.O.S. I wonder if he ever considered maybe pepper spray or any other means of non-lethal deterrent against this puppy, all because he was not on a leash. No charges have been filed against Johnson as of the writing of this story Sunday morning. His judicial office declined to comment on the investigation, but confirmed he remains on the bench and is actively hearing cases. According to a report from PennLive, Johnson had been arrested three times prior to being elected district judge. He had faced prior arrests for robbery and fraternity hazing, along with another case that is, well, unavailable because he was a minor at the time. Johnson was exonerated in both the robbery charge and the hazing charge incidents. We'll have to let our minds wander what his third arrest while a juvenile was all about. Because, as stated, those records are unavailable. So going from three arrests to becoming the youngest judge in Pennsylvania to shooting a 10-month-old puppy. Johnson once told CBS 21 he hoped his election showed that you can be young, black, face adversity, and still soar to the greatest of heights. He sure doesn't sound like a hero to me, but I guess I was not there. the incident did occur. To me, he looks like a pompous piece of work, or at least in the picture that is available, he does.
