Ottawa Redblacks' dismal season comes to a close
Oct 26, 2026
What is done is done, so we've got to look at ourselves in the mirror
to ask ourselves what we could have done better.
The Ottawa Red Blacks packing up
and reflecting on the season that's come and gone.
17 losses and just one win,
which they got on home soil in the season's second-last game.
They then capped off the regular season Saturday
with another loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
I'm tired of losing, that's for sure.
I'm not tired of being here, though.
I'm not tired of coming here every single day.
Anthony Gauslain started his CFL career in Ottawa nearly a decade ago.
And although he doesn't want to leave,
he does want to see something different.
Culture-wise, we need to bring guys that want to be there
and want to work in the same direction, want to stay healthy,
want to put their body on the line
and go to work every single day
and just try to make it happen
because I feel like at some point during the season
when we know we don't make the playoffs
and when we lose a couple games in a row,
we just give up on ourselves a little bit
and we need more guys that just want it more.
The Red Blacks' recent losing streak
was the longest in modern-day CFL history,
and often a record like that is followed by change.
The team hired a new president last week, Mike Morreale.
As for what that means for head coach
and general manager Ryan Dinwiddie?
He said he wants to evaluate everything,
including myself, and that's fair.
You go 1-17, everything should be evaluated.
So I plan on being here.
I want to turn this thing around, right?
I don't want to be out of here and not have
the opportunity to get one more shot at it.
I think he's a great head coach.
You know, just things didn't work out this year,
but I don't doubt that he's the man to turn this thing around.
You know, he's done it before, and I believe he'll do it again here.
That shot to turn things around won't come until next spring
when training camp opens.
