James Kaufman, World News Report today.
Ladies and gentlemen, we've had another very strong 6.3
magnitude earthquake over near the Solomon Islands.
This is going to be on a plate tectonic boundary
and also in a very active area as far as volcanic activity.
This is going to be one of the signs of also Zealandia,
our eighth continent, rising out of the sea.
For those of you who are not familiar with Zealandia, it's a very shallow
area here with an actual continent rising up from the ocean floor.
They say it will be our eighth continent if and when, I guess, it does so.
Parts of it that are showing are obviously New Zealand,
i.e. where it gets its name, Zealandia, and New Caledonia here.
All right, this very strong magnitude 6.3, again,
on a plate tectonic boundary associated with a lot
of volcanic activity in the area, probably showing us magma movement,
very shallow, 8.7 kilometers for the USGS.
shake might come in very very low at a four telling us
that no one lives in this area it
was probably uh in an area with no land whatsoever let's take
a look moving over to volcanoes and
earthquakes.com in that area here we do see
a lot of plate tectonic boundaries a lot of them are
going every which direction having
a real hard time deciding what to do there that's the top
of Zealandia and kind of rising out of the sea here
and see there is some volcanic activity just under
our location this must definitely magma move
in here in a 6.3 magnitude and also usgs germany
also rated this a 6.3 magnitude quick
and raspberry shake came in at 6.2 let's get some
detailed information all right a very strong
earthquake in the coral sea let's pick up some
earthquake details here magnitude 6.3 main
reporting source USGS quality 51 stations picked
it up reports zero and i thought in the middle of nowhere
and moving all the way down estimated
energy of this quake about 2.7 atomic bombs
energy released wow that's a lot of energy
let's continue all right take a look at where
this earthquake popped off x marks the spot right here
It will be northeast of Australia,
and I would say southeast of Papua New Guinea.
This red X, this black X, marks the spot.
All right, comparing earthquake data
from different reporting agencies to French.
Well, let's go to the top here.
We have the USGS at 6.3, 8.7 kilometers of depth.
Germany 6.3, default depth 10 kilometers.
The asterisk 10 kilometer depth often means that the depth of the quake
could not be determined with sufficient accuracy, i.e. the earthquakes.
Next, we have Raspberry Shake, default depth 6.2.
The French came in at 5.82 with a default depth.
We have the Indonesian
government coming in at 6.5.
Wow, they're right on top, right on top of it.
Default depth, 10 kilometers.
A 6.3 out of the Europeans, default depth.
The Incorporated Research Institute
for Seismology came in at 8.7 kilometers of depth.
A 6.3 as well, seems to be the good numbers.
Australia came in at a 6.4,
about 10 kilometers, and the Institute
in Italy came up with also a 6.3,
but to 8.6 kilometers depth,
so they would show us what it means.
So, in summary, another 6.3 magnitude earthquake.
We had two decent quakes.
One up by Japan, where we've been doing a report of 5.0.
And another 5.5, almost where we saw it a day or two ago,
on the Aleutian Island chain.
Again, the 6.3 magnitude earthquake was the event of the day thus far.
And we will keep you updated if anything else arises.
Again, this is part of Zealandia.
Zealandia, the continent that's rising.
Our eighth continent.
One day, perhaps.
Please share and subscribe
and always remember that anything's possible.
Bizarro world.
