Strong 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes March 1st 2026!

James Kaufman will do his report today. Ladies and gentlemen, we've had a very strong magnitude 6.3 earthquake in the Fiji region. Looks like it's going to be part of Zealandia rising, the eighth continent, rising out of the sea currently. You can see Zealandia here and New Caledonia is right here. And it looks like the basic outline of the continent does something like this. There's a lot of unknowns as the fault and plate tectonic boundaries decide on which way they're going. This particular quake is at the end of a strong plate tectonic boundary and just about on another one. It's also under what looks like two active volcanoes, as I will show you. Again, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in the Fiji region came in as only a 3 on the shake map. green on the pager this tells you that there was no one in the area and it was probably offshore the depth here is very impressive 596.3 kilometers which means it was very deep we should expect large earthquakes in this area and much shallower depths in the days and weeks ahead. Let's get some more information. All right, this is Zealandia. You can see that there's a lot of interpretations of where exactly it's going to be. I see it coming all the way up here to Fiji and working its way through to Papua New Guinea and coming back and leaving a strait between Australia and Zealandia. Now, this could take centuries. It could take decades. It could take millennia but it is rising and so far six percent of it has risen out of the ocean only 94 percent to go again the eighth continent rising out of the ocean Zealandia all right jumping over to volcanoes and earthquakes.com and here we are looking at Zealandia again you can see those outlines and see that one a plate tectonic boundary here another one we saw the other map comes up and ends right about right about where this large quake went off you can also see the two active volcanoes here maybe three we'll zoom in and take a look all right uh here we see a plate tectonic boundary that just ends and assume that this is another plate tectonic boundary here there's a subduction zone you can see here that quake hit right here see it's not a populated area there are looks like three quakes it's probably White Island down here see what these are called there are three and these are the Tongan boys by tofu we all know about that volcano minor eruption then we have a Home Reef volcano major eruption and the late volcano a minor eruption as well to get some detailed information from this a 6.3 magnitude 596 kilometers of depth and our main reporting sources the usgs who else came in on this well germany did was 6.3 and 588 kilometers and Raspberry Shake came in at a measly 6.0 594 everyone agrees it's very deep i just don't agree on the intensity of the quake let's go over all right well here it is way over here on the map hard to find a 6.3 and popped off right south of eastern fiji here let's get some more information come right earthquake details okay here is a 6.3 main reporting agency it's going to be our USGS zero reports of it being felt so our seismograms the only thing to pick this 6-3 up i mean it was probably larger at that point very very deep and quite a bit more than any type of settlement what do we have well eighty three stations picked it up here and it released 2.7 atomic bombs from here 2.7 atomic bombs with energy wow remember share subscribe and anything's possible in Bizarro World.
