AI GeneratedMeteorologist Valerie Mills provides an update on the 2026 hurricane season as it nears its November 30th conclusion. While the season saw 10 named storms, most remained at sea, with the Gulf of Mexico experiencing the most impact. Current conditions suggest a wind-down in activity, though a low-probability system is being monitored near the Bahamas.
Hey everyone, I'm meteorologist Valerie Mills.
Thanks for logging on to MyFox Hurricane.
We are counting down to the official end of the 2026 hurricane
season 35 days away that officially ends on November 30th.
And as we look at the season, we have seen 10 named storms, but several
of those fish storms out in the Atlantic with no impact to land
where we did see a couple of impactful storms was right in the Gulf.
We had Arthur, Edouard, Bertha all moving through the northern Gulf.
and then Isaias, our only hurricane of the season,
forming down in the southwestern Gulf
and then eventually making landfall in Destin, Florida.
So Kyle is our next name in line for this hurricane season,
but we're heading into the point where a lot
of more frequent fronts moving through,
cooler water temperatures as well as strong wind shear,
which has dominated through the season,
is going to start to wind down the potential
for any tropical development where things
are quiet all across the Atlantic Basin.
There's no areas that we're keeping tabs on.
But as we look toward October 28th through
the first few days of November,
there is a low-end signal of something trying
to spin up there near the Bahamas,
right off the coast of Florida.
Very low chance of that,
but we'll be keeping close eye on that and update you
should anything start to look a little bit more impressive there.
And then quick check of the Pacific where we have tropical depression.
Alana, that's moving away from the Hawaiian Islands.
Some low-end rain impacts there,
and then tropical storm Vance that's right off the coast of Mexico.
This one is right now at 65-mile-per-hour sustained winds.
It is going to be weakening, though,
over the next few days as it slowly drifts off the southwest coast,
eventually moving onshore later on this week
as a likely much weaker tropical system.
We'll keep you updated on all things
tropics right here on MyFox Hurricane.
