I feel like Real Milwaukee could always be a Brewer Show
because the colors are so perfect,
but especially today.
Especially today?
We're so excited.
Should we start the buzzer?
Yeah, let's get right into it.
Let's get right into it.
Well, of course, what a time to be a Brewers fan.
I mean, the crew takes on the Tampa Bay Rays
in St. Petersburg for game three tonight,
but the excitement, it has not died down here in Milwaukee.
Right?
Donovan Long is at American Family Field this morning.
Good morning, Don.
How's it going out there?
What's up ladies? It's feeling pretty good out here.
I've been singing all morning.
Let's hit some baseballs and get some home runs
I mean that is the energy that is
being felt all over the community. Exactly, I
was waiting for one of y'all to do it
Yeah
You know folks are gonna be singing that heading into the watch party
first one for game three being here tonight behind me at American
Family Field we know the gates will open at 4:30 for all
those good folks then at 5 o'clock the gates to the ballpark
Park will also open in time for those folks to get to their seats
and get prepared to watch.
Of course, the Brewers dominate in St. Pete against
the Rays at their home turf. Listen,
though, if folks didn't get the tickets for that game,
I know it really is a bummer. I didn't get
them either, but you can still pick up some merchandise.
There is some stuff that you can
still grab in honor of the team making it to the World Series.
It's historic, so be a part of that
history. Support the crew. Wear the swag.
Check this out, though. The store will open today from
11 o'clock to 2 p.m. and tomorrow it will
also be open before the second watch party for game
three. We know that the Brewers merchandise has
been flying off the shelves lately but
get this the Brewers have sold more merchandise
this postseason alone than any other team in
history and that's according to a tweet
from the MLB reporter Bob Nightingale which was super cool
to see, again, another just way that our feet,
our people show out for our team, right? So we do know
that I stopped as well into, what is it called?
Moda in the third ward. This is kind of see how
they were, you know, selling merchandise to fans,
seeing how that whole getup was going. And it was
just as, just as it has been in this team store,
in this ballpark behind me, I just stood there
talking to the owner. And the only reason he could
not be interviewed this morning is because that
they were expecting so many more customers
so i obviously respected that said hey man you got a
job to do you got people who want to support
the team you go be with them that's where you should
be this time in the morning
but another sign that people are still coming out buying merchandise
buying hats buying jerseys buying sweaters to honor
their team from afar today oh my gosh when
i was there last week it was giving black friday energy oh yeah
and it was like people were just
grabbing stuff and i think because they
were worried that like i don't know it was going to
sell out so they would they had these boxes of stuff
and they would put them out and then
somebody would grab it right away it was respectful
but also intense oh well i saw some some people
there to buy the shirt they'd be like does anyone see an extra small
and they would like throw up
the side like we were helping each other
in the midst of the chaos like hot cakes i know
i'm just so grateful that i got this jersey like months ago it's
a Jackson Chirino jersey look at
back baby there it is number 11 that's
who i'm rooting for i'm rooting for the whole team but
you know i got my guy that i'm partial to uh he's an outfielder
but nevertheless another great player
uh on the team you ladies we all have our favorites yeah
and folks are grabbing merch
every which way i was even on the airport shirts i
was thinking they're fully stocked so maybe i
should text and the prices were really reasonable
the summerfest store looked like it had a nice
selection yeah and it's so easy to get there
from the parking ramp you just walk over all right well
Another member of our team is in Tampa.
We got our Ted Perry.
Oh, look at you, Beach Eddie.
Is that Jake?
Are you guys at the pool?
What are you doing?
You know, guys, when you do these trips,
it's hard to tell people that, oh, no, these aren't good trips.
It's really long days.
These guys are ruining it for me.
But they're the stars, okay?
Jake Salzberg, Jared Harrington,
two of our photojournalists down here doing a good job.
Boys, you're going to the beach.
A little sunblock.
We're going to meet up in two hours and start our work.
there jake okay so watch each other don't swim i
know you just had breakfast you gotta wait a half
hour before you go in the ocean let's take
a stroll down the boulevard shall we uh looks
beautiful Ted Beach is that away our hotel
is that away it's nice it's nice like 1960s beach hotel
it's awesome uh beautiful day here in Tampa Bay
um if five people pass me four of them are wearing
Brewer paraphernalia now okay good that's what i
was gonna say that again say that again look at
people are chanting from the windows oh
that's hilarious can you hear it let's go Brewers
so are you excited put some sunblock on it come
on out join us you know what there's a Walgreens across
the street there's a Walgreens across the street
from the hotel I predict a run on aloe lotion in
about five hours no no sunburn yeah
so while you're there Ted I will probably talk to you
tomorrow i want you to see what
their like tailgate culture is like i'm curious about that
yeah is it going to be you know the breweries kind
of doing our thing how we normally do or
showing them how to really tailgate
so i'm interested to see how their fans kind of pregame
yeah yeah i know nothing of the tailgate culture
of the rays that's a great question we can find
that out. We'll be heading over to the ballpark
in a little bit. I'm going to kind of get in the shade
here, not just because I have Irish
skin, but because it's going to
break the wind here.
I'm trying to get a back drop and keep
that signal.
You know, you're a little muffled now,
Ted.
Go Brewers.
Go Brewers.
We're everywhere, I think.
Let's try right here.
Oh, sorry. What are their foods, Ted?
Is that a good signal? Yeah, we can hear you now.
So what are their big foods?
Because Tampa Bay fans who came to see us were getting all the brats,
all of the, you know, cheese curds, brat rangoons, you name it.
These are all good questions, guys.
They're good questions that I'm going to get answered for you.
I imagine there's got to be like a fish taco theme
or something going on.
Yeah, I mean, I just had a crab omelet while having breakfast
and listening to Jimmy Buffett.
So it's clear that I'm in Florida.
I love that you're parlaying your time, though.
you know enjoy a little bit why not i have heard
as well that their beer scene is surprisingly good
i think they're known more for in fact i met somebody local brewery
which is near the stadium near the
trop on our flight last night which by the way 98 percent brew fans
and people supporting their gear
she runs a local brewery that ashley sears is going
to be uh visiting either tonight or tomorrow
oh perfect awesome all right looking forward
to it uh stay in the shade a little bit there ted see
you later on all right see you guys later see ya whether you're
in florida like ted and our
photojournalist or you're watching the game
from home you can join us for the all-day watch party
on Fox Local, I promise you we have lined up some excellent guests today
then of course we have a
special edition of Fox Six News at four tonight
the World Series pre-game begins at six and
first pitch once again at seven
and stay with us after the game for a special edition of Fox Six
News with reaction from the watch party
at American Family Field as well as from the
through we've got you covered everywhere i'm
so excited i know i want to see what their beach
watch parties are like i heard that that's
a thing i think Ashley is setting those up too i'm excited
all right there we go i know they can have
the beach watch parties we can have the beach too
it's just a little cooler here i love it i love it well hey we
also have some excellent watch
parties cramp hanging out at a pretty big one we're gonna check
in with him in West Dallas next
I'm thinking they're doing mimosas down there with the orange
Well, the Brewers
are bringing
the excitement
on the field,
and Kegel's Inn is turning up the fun off
the field with some big watch parties.
Our Brian Cramp is in West Allis this morning
with a look at a fan-favorite spot
to watch the World Series.
Cramp, I have never been to this place, but it looks perfect.
I mean, you're right by the ballpark.
I bet you can even hear the cheers from Kegel's.
Oh, you can hear it, too.
Fireworks, Julian, right?
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
You said the other night with the second wing.
It's electric.
It's electric.
And you know, Nicola said she had never been here.
We're not gonna shame her on air because it's a great place.
I can't get in, Pram, I can't get in.
But I would highly recommend it
because for many different reasons,
this has been around for a long time,
but there's so many different reasons to come here.
Oh, certainly.
Yeah, I mean, there's 10 different themes,
there's the Brewers' Watch Party, there's fish fry,
there's German food, there's great beer,
there's authentic atmosphere, there's Milwaukee history.
You got jazz every Saturday.
Amen, yeah.
no reason you shouldn't uh try kegels in at some point now
but trying it during this historic
Brewers World Series right that's
a different beast i don't think the excitement for your
friday fish fries can be as amped up as it
is out here at the watch party so talk about that
you know you we discussed this earlier
on that this crowd is electric right yeah where you
experience what you initially thought you're gonna
do this were you like hoping just to get this
crowd because it's more than i think you might
have realized it certainly is i mean i think
we started to feel it last week you go
to the gas station everybody's saying go
Brewers and and you just have to say like
my god this is the first time in so
long for most kids his lifetime to have something
so exciting happening right
here in Milwaukee the heart of West Allis
is like this working-class you
know beautiful family um
for most Midwestern culture and honestly it's
just it's so beautiful to see it come alive here
at Kegels and it is in all
walks of life too you have families you
have second third generation you know
you know from kids to grandparents they're all coming out here in their
stay from the start to the finish now
your start today is at 5 o'clock yep the
finish is whenever the game ends let's
just say it goes extra you know you go
into 10 maybe 12 minutes
or so when does West now shut you down let's hope we
don't get there somebody has
to ask them you know ultimately I think most of my
neighbors are watching here on the screen so that's gonna be a bonus
Give your neighbors a free beer at least.
Always, and dinner, and a brat, and a pretzel.
You know them by now.
I mean, this building has been here
in your family for four generations, 100 years.
You celebrated that milestone late last year.
I mean, this is bigger, though,
than what the party you had for your own centennial.
Oh, yeah.
Isn't that crazy to think about?
Yeah, well, I mean, that's just the reference
of how tiny these little German restaurants were.
But ultimately, it exposes how important pretzels are, too.
right i mean this is one of the last remaining german restaurants
in the Milwaukee area that's
got this rich history that's worth preserving yeah
so if we can boost it with some Brewers
traffic this is a this is a big win for us
and you want to boost it too and you're also putting
on the plates you're keeping true to what you guys
do from the pretzels to the beer to the sausage
to the cheese you use local, local company, yeah, yeah
local companies you're working with at all maybe
four on all of them yeah i mean from Milwaukee Pretzel Company
to Union Derst to Ellsworth Cheese
Lakefront Brewery yeah uh you know the beauty
is that you know County Stadium, Miller Park
and Field they they took the German menu
and made it American i mean baseball created uh the
American food that came from Germany yeah we
were doing it a long time before that right and we
still do that today now how do you top what sausage
is this let's get this oh that's our
that's our gold standard that's
the lowdown to our best raw we put our
house uh bacon schmear on top
of a usengers brought uh sauerkraut mustard more bacon red
onions and it couldn't be better I'm just saying yes yes bacon
is good yeah of course guys yes yes
but i need to know what is bacon schmear well first off don't fear
the schmear, what is the
bacon schmear. What is bacon schmear? Well, uh, it started as our rouladen mix
which is what we put in
in beef cutlet rolled up pickles relish
mustard sour cream onions white pepper spices
it is absolutely to die for, you know if i slowed
that down what you said i still wouldn't
understand what that's
because it's our little secret you know i mean it's one of those things
that you can only get here at kegels
and then i have to say that this this name of the pretzel
is again Hugh Jass, Jass first name Hugh, last name J-A-S-S it's
from the simpsons it's from
the Simpsons, right? It was here. You saw it.
It's the episode, right? But you also have a bike event
named the same thing. You know, this family with four generations,
obviously, in the building here,
there are a lot of people in your family
that aren't involved with Kegels. Certainly. Do they
show up during the party? Yeah, I mean, my sister was here.
My other sister, Amelia, just had a baby.
Welcome to Leland, to the world.
You know, but Kegels Inn was the original family business.
and then in the 50s my grandpa kind of broke away
and that was where my dad
found himself without kegels
in in the in the in the books so he actually was
the first employee at Wheel and Sprocket
and the bike legacy is the the Empire I
grew up under and there was no kids left
to take over kegels in that right third
generation so let's give this a go people
that are just figuring out that
Wheel and Sprocket and kegels
in is the same family yeah for sure literally your
your dad, your sister now, and your brother
And brother, and other sister.
And other sister, and here you are
You took, I get, you went the hard way.
I got to say this, earlier on,
Julian said something to me that stuck out off air.
I said, wow, fourth generation.
You're like, yeah.
I'm like, what were you thinking when you and your wife took it over?
What did you say?
There was no plan for that.
There was no plan.
Like, what do you do when you take over a business?
There was no plan.
I mean, working in the Wheel and Sprocket
family, we didn't really come to Kegels.
That wasn't part of our daily existence,
so when it became available to the family, I was like, man,
came here on a Friday night, and I was just dripping in character
and all of a sudden I was like, this place is incredible.
And get this, guys, he moved, him and his wife moved from Alaska,
where they were tour guides, grew up here in Milwaukee,
decided to go live their best life in Alaska,
came back to Milwaukee to take the reins for Kegels Inn,
and I'll tell you what, it's been a run so far since 18 with you.
I know that tonight's going to be great.
5 o'clock is go time.
Tickets, you don't need them, but you need reservations if you want.
Yeah, there's a few available for tonight or tomorrow.
But bring a chair, hop on the bleachers,
or there's some open tables available for first come,
first serve at 5 o'clock.
All right, quick question, Cram, before you go.
Yeah, go ahead, fire right.
All right, no, no, no, because I'm seeing all the tables,
I'm seeing all the food.
What went into the preparation to be able to serve all of these people?
This party is massive.
I know. So they have a dugout outside, so they have tappers outside.
They have a food truck they set up outside.
You can also go inside as well,
so they have different opportunities for you.
But of course, they're ready for you.
This is what the Kegel family has been doing for years.
Friday fish fry, that's one thing.
This right here at Brewer's Watch
Party, they've stepped it up for sure.
You know what, they might want
to apply some of this to the Friday in Lent
because I can't get in there.
Fridays during Lent, Kegel's is Lent.
I just want to have lunch or dinner with Julian Kegel.
That's the most interesting man ever.
He's got such a cool life story.
Like an onion, like many layers.
All right, we're still ahead this morning in Milwaukee.
It is parent-teacher conference time.
Important tips for families coming up next.
Welcome back.
It's that time of year again for parent-teacher conferences,
and a lot of us parents have questions, right?
Judy Kegel is here from Lakeside Educational Services
to answer some of the questions that you submitted.
Thank you so much for being here.
I love talking about parent-teacher conference. In fact,
some teachers are calling it a parent-teacher-child conference.
So you and I were just talking because I said, my sons,
we just did a video call. He was doing great. We moved on.
My daughter, I'm like, oh, no, no, no, you're coming with me.
I want you to hear what the teacher has
to say. So let's talk about that.
The greatest amount of questions that parents sent to me all talked
about, should I take my child to the parent-teacher conference?
If your child is fifth grade or up, my definite opinion is absolutely.
And this is more than just sitting there,
he's not doing well or she's doing great.
It is about teaching your child, number one, how to talk to an adult,
how not to look at a phone, not to scroll, give eye contact,
talk slowly and loudly and articulate how they feel.
those teachers might learn a whole lot
because don't forget this teacher is responsible for 25
other children and she might not know
or he might not know your child might learn a lot about what
he is or she is missing and guess
who wins in this the parent the parent hears both sides so
absolutely but on the flip side of that a lot
of questions came in how do I prepare my child to go
There are some teachers that are definitely preparing kids.
They actually make up a Google form, and your child fills it out.
If that's not the case, then as a parent, you role play.
You write up the questions, or your child writes up
the questions that they want to ask the teacher.
And that child becomes much more confident.
And you know what really is critical here
is the relationship between your child and the teacher.
Oh, definitely.
that is a big plus definitely
and within that also i feel like we should also talk about
beyond the grades too
because i feel like a child's behavior makes a difference the kid's
character so you want to ask questions about
that as well you want to know and i had a teacher send
me questions about little ones
but this goes across all levels is your child kind what does
my child react to disappointment challenges frustration what does
my child do when they
don't get that A or they don't do well on a test.
Is my child respectful to you? When you ask my
child a question, are they responding to you or do they ignore you?
And that happens a lot with
kids. So it's a matter of respect.
And those are definite questions parents should ask.
And speaking of questions, let's take a look
at some of the other questions that were submitted
to you um okay one parent asks is it okay
to bring we're talking about food we're talking
about pets we're talking about all different
things all right so break down some of these
questions pets no i don't care if you live across
the street from the school no pets if you have a
little one at home if you can find somebody to watch
the little one rather than bring that child
to the conference because it typically
is a distraction find a babysitter food no for food
find out if the teacher drinks coffee or iced tea
or lemonade but stay away from food because you
never know or candy oh my goodness a little bit
of sugar goes a long way yeah um i want to talk
about some of the questions too sometimes you feel like you know
the five or ten minutes that
you have allotted you're not getting all of your questions answered
or maybe you want to follow up
what should we do next biggest point of advice
for parents if you have a question for your child's
teacher, do not let it go to parent-teacher conference.
It's the same thing if you have a
toothache. Are you going to wait until
your six-month checkup? Of course not. You're going
to call your dentist. If you have a concern
or your child is struggling, you make an appointment
to see that teacher now, not later.
So that you get five to 15 minutes. By the time you sit down,
it's time to leave. And another big point of this is time reference.
So you know that there
are parents standing in back of you waiting,
which is unnerving for some people. Make an
appointment with the teacher and the principal if you have to,
or do a Zoom conference that is
convenient to both of you so you get your questions answered.
And it seems like some of these parents
who submitted questions obviously wanted to take some notes.
Yes. All right, you had some questions
about recording and note-taking. Absolutely.
I think of a parent-teacher conference as a business
meeting. You wouldn't walk into a business meeting unprepared.
Parent needs to come in with specific
questions, bring a notebook.
And if you're going to record the conversation, please tell the teacher
you're recording. She may want to record it too.
So yes, all of the above. This is a business
meeting because it talks about the success of your child.
Yeah. And also let's talk a little
bit about paperwork tests homework like being able
to have examples of your child's work too
many kids do not bring what they are working
on in school home until the end of the month
you have every right to say to the classroom teacher i want
to see my child's writing samples
i want to see that written language notebook i want
to see their social studies notebook because
kids are being told, no, you can't take it home.
So yes, ask for it. I can guarantee you,
teachers are truly prepared for these conferences.
Parents, you need to be prepared as well.
Is there anything that they want of us when we're going into it?
I think they want to know what's your child like at home
when they are doing homework. How much
help is your child requiring? Are they crying?
Are they screaming? Are they whipping through it?
You have every right as a parent to say to your child,
I'd like to see that homework.
You're not going to do it for them, but you have every right
to review it and say, number two isn't correct.
You better review it.
And then before we go, just also share
a little bit about how critical this is during this time of year,
because now is the time that you can perhaps make up the work,
make some changes or kind of get back
on track before the grades do come out.
Well, and that goes back to not letting this go.
Don't wait until the first report card comes out.
Talk to the teacher now.
If your child is struggling with tests, it could be the way they study.
It could be the way they take notes.
Don't wait until the parent conference.
Talk to teachers now.
Yeah.
And I was going to say, mine were really,
really helpful because I was able to, once
again, bring my daughter, have these conversations, things like that.
Absolutely.
Don't be afraid to bring your child with you.
Yeah.
It's their life.
It's their academic progress.
It's important they be a part of it.
And they were emboldened to also share what they thought they could
do to, you know, do better or maybe study better, like you said.
And they may tell a teacher, you know,
there are kids in back of me that are really bothering me.
She may not even be aware of this.
Yes.
So it's critical.
Yep.
Julie, thank you so much.
Good luck.
More from Milwaukee after the break.
Yeah, that was one of the things, too.
My daughter was like, hey.
Well, the crew might be on the road,
but the World Series energy here
in Milwaukee is still very, very high.
And nobody knows that better than our Donovan Long.
He is live at American Family Field
with a DJ helping hype up fans during the Brewers World Series run.
Don, I feel like just about every news outlet over the weekend
was commenting on how wild and loud our fans were here.
And I feel like this DJ who you have knows that too.
Oh, 100%.
She definitely knows what that's like.
I mean, she hypes up crowds all the time,
anywhere from the Bucks to the Brewers.
And she's right beside me.
This is DJ Gemini Gilli in the house
or outside of the house, if you will.
So you're sporting a Christian Yelich jersey.
I love it.
I love the fashion.
I love the fact that we are still relishing in the moment.
You're a homegrown kid here, homegrown person here.
Grew up as a kid here.
Been to so many games.
You DJ some of the games.
You DJ some of the events.
What is that like for you?
It is amazing.
Being born and raised in Milwaukee
and being able to be so heavily affiliated with so many
of the teams here that represent our city is always an honor for me.
So you got to DJ this official banner release outside
of City Hall with the mayor, Bernie Brewer was there, Barrowman.
Come on, that's got to be exciting and exhilarating for you.
It was super exciting. The mascots being there,
the people from the city just going past, honking their horns.
Everybody's just so fired up. I don't know, the city
is feeling super electric and on fire, so it's making me excited.
How do you choose what songs to play?
I know you have to look at the audience and choose stuff that also
complement where you are in the atmosphere and the environment.
But, like, how did you pick out what to play for your set?
Honestly, I go off of the crowd.
So the first song I played, like, people started dancing.
I'm like, oh, we're going to keep this vibe going.
The mascots were dancing.
And once everybody started kind of getting into it,
I was like, I know what I'm doing now.
I like this.
Okay, I've been asking my co-anchors as well.
Thought about it myself.
You have a walkout song.
If you're a player coming out to Tropicana Field tonight, what would
you be listening to in your headphones if you were a player right now?
My walkout song would be Lil Wayne, Hustler Music.
I like that.
I like that.
That hypes you up as well?
Oh, for sure.
Do you ever play any of that?
Do you ever play that song in any of your sets when you DJ around town?
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
I mean, I feel like it's just such an electric song.
It just kind of gets you pumped up, gets you motivated.
It just reminds you, like, what you're doing.
You're hustling.
You're getting to it.
Come on now.
And our guys have been hustling since.
Come on.
We hope to see that same momentum carried in St. Pete tonight.
Tell me this, too.
You are also no stranger to the organization in a different capacity.
You're part of the social media team.
What has that been like?
I mean, you guys are probably
in even more overdrive given the times we're in now.
Oh, absolutely.
Being able to go to the watch parties,
doing some exclusive, like, food tastings.
So just being able to be a part of the Brewers on another side
and seeing now what we're doing, like,
as a team and as an org has just been amazing.
That is huge.
And you tell me you're going to one of the
watch parties, one tomorrow, actually.
I am.
I'm hoping that we can get it done
so we can be asleep, crossing my fingers.
Wouldn't that be nuts?
I mean, like I said, you're from this community.
You've seen how the Brewers were.
They seem like they've gotten so much better.
They're playing differently even than last year.
That chemistry really shines on the field.
Have you seen that from your perspective as well?
Absolutely.
Just seeing everybody, all of the team members just being together.
When somebody does something really good,
everybody's like high-fiving and just super fired up.
So I feel like we have a lot of continuity with our team this year.
All right, so from the Brewers to the basketball, to the Bucs, you go.
You're DJing when and where?
I will be in the atrium.
So if you'll be at the Bucs game tonight,
you will hear me if you're walking into the main entrance.
I'm playing pregame halftime and when everybody's walking out.
I love it. I love it. You don't sleep.
I feel like you've got to schedule some time in for a nap.
DJ, thank you so much. It's such a pleasure to have you.
And keep playing some good music like I know you do.
You got it. We'll send it back to y'all.
Good gig there.
Yeah, getting everybody hyped.
And keeping them hyped.
Because, you know, when the game starts, everyone's excited.
But you've got to keep them in it. Seventh, eighth, ninth inning.
But that helps with the community experience, too.
Oh, yeah.
Add to the ambiance.
Yes.
See you later, Don.
Thanks.
Baseball and Scottsdale go hand in hand.
Legendary Prep Academy is a high-performance baseball academy.
He's going to the MLB, for sure.
I have high confidence.
I'm not going to kill his dream.
We are here for the love of the game.
At LPA, games are intense.
The parents can also be very intense.
I love everybody.
Tell your f***ing friends.
You don't even know what's about to come.
This boy was calling everyone that I was on Twitter.
Oh, I already watched it.
This is right up our alley.
I watched all of them.
You didn't tell me?
You got to watch it.
Come on.
Oh, my gosh.
Youth sports can be high pressure, and sometimes the drama between
the stands is even more intense than the action on the field.
Team Moms Baseball is streaming now on Paramount+.
And, Gino, you talked with a few of them.
This looks like a hybrid between, like,
Real Housewives meets kids sports.
Yep.
And we know what mothers are like.
And Derek and I had this talk about it recently.
There my cousin Rose Bosch, if you're watching, embarrassing
in the stands she would scream
her son playing on the field would hear it
but uh we talked about, I talked with Trish
Myers, Aaron Walcek and Mel Drummer
and what is reality TV, how realistic is it
how real is reality TV? Honestly it's real, it all happens, you know we
were never given something to
say or do, um you know we're hanging out
with people that we might not be hanging out with
every day, that's the only part that um you know
is a little bit different outside of like our
normal baseball lives
but no I mean it's real, everything, everything you saw happens, and Trish
you know what, it's just people
who want their children to do well, I I love the motive of every
parent in this show, yeah you know
that's one thing about us parents, even if there's drama out there
we all support the boys, we're all supportive of them
and living their dreams, and you know if our
son wants to do it we're going
to fully support it, it's just anything in life if he wants to play
piano or play guitar we're going to fully support
that it's just that his dream is baseball and you
know what, an opportunity to be able to go to the school, yeah
and Mel, what an opportunity is to see
your life, this slice of your life, like you will always have
this, you will always remember the
things that went on, absolutely this was a very unique experience
and going into it we we took
it exactly for that let's let's do this as a family
this is fun not everybody gets this
opportunity and to have these ladies there doing it alongside us
was really fun and we really
appreciate the opportunity
and had a lot of fun doing it i kind of really enjoyed the show for
several reasons first i thought the school
is a cool model it's different because you know to be
able to learn from the best
of the best former MLB players yes i mean these kids go to school
for like two hours a day online
and the rest is literally all baseball it's practicing it's just
kind of and how old are the kids
um it's like middle school okay high school they're like 13 14
right kids right um but it's just so intense
and i think that's the other part about it like
some of these parents are treating their kids like a business oh
and it's a little unfortunate
you know so there's so many different dynamics
that go along with it yeah all right i'm gonna
No, it's pretty interesting, too.
So the moms have their pajamas, so do the kids.
After seeing it back, what do the boys think about it,
like, when they watched it?
It's a great question, Erica, because what do boys that age do?
Do they even watch the show?
That's true.
Erin, what was the reaction of the boys?
How did they feel about this?
Honestly, they were all pretty excited.
I know my son, he actually still hasn't really watched everything.
He was like, I kind of lived it.
I'm good.
He was just kind of chill.
Like, yeah.
He's like, they've been having fun with it.
i i honestly thought it way better they they had
a lot more fun than i thought they would and
they don't seem to like their lives haven't changed
that much honestly so they're going
they have a goal in mind they they just want
to play baseball that's right yeah uh mel i didn't
hear did you ask me this sorry i can't
for some reason it's lower volume what
that's okay no i was just saying it's good
that they're not caring about the show that they're
focused on playing baseball yeah and it's
and it's cute we were at a restaurant the other day
and a couple 14 year old girls were walking around trying
to snap pictures you know so they're they're
kind of loving that part of it but yeah it's really cool
and and the footage that paramount
captured i mean it's real deal cameras and i'm
so excited i hope they share more of that footage
with us because they got some really unique footage
of the boys pitching and sliding and
and we're gonna have that for a lifetime it's
it's pretty unique yeah mel along those lines
the fact that the boys will be able to chart
their progress to show how they were at this age
and then how they ended up, you know, with their baseball careers.
Yeah, actually, that is a really good point that you made.
The school is very good about tracking
their performance and their progress.
And to see it live, you know, on the television,
to see where they were and how far they came,
even during the time that we filmed, is a really cool experience
because we don't get to see the boys at school.
While they're doing all of their activities and their trainings,
we only see them when they play on the weekends and tournaments.
So to see it like that and to actually live it with them
while they were filming was a really cool experience.
All right.
I'm going to end.
I need your support.
You all have to support the Brewers.
We've never had a real show.
Never won a real show.
This is like an American dream.
I love each one of their stories.
I mean, we're in full support.
Sorry, Diamondbacks, but we've got to go for the Brewers.
We'll take it, right?
We'll take it.
Love the support.
That's interesting.
Because I feel like, too, it's got to be relatable for moms
who have kids and it works really anywhere
because there's a common theme of, like, it's a little intense.
Oh, it shouldn't be, yeah.
I'm looking forward to see if they get another season.
And I think they will. We want to follow the story
With the rave reviews coming in from Erica,
there will be a second season, yeah.
All right.
I want to talk about Erica.
Over the weekend, was at a wedding with Erica and her husband, Andre.
I'm telling you, this is one of the great couples I've ever met.
Oh wow, their kids are great. They are great. You treat each other
so well and so beautifully and it
just made my whole night watching. We really had a good time
and it was nice to just kind of be in
the moment and enjoy each other, yep, it
was Andre's, my new best friend. He had such a good
time with you. He was like, oh, I could hang
with Gino. I'm sure you could. Exactly, that's awesome
Thank you, Gino. That's why it's real Milwaukee. We've got
to tell the real stories you've never
said that about like me and my
significant other. That's true.
There's been no drama there.
No, but we're working so
hard to try to get you backstage for
the Jonas Brothers. So maybe that moment
when you and Jonas, Jonas finally
sees me. He's going to say, there she is.
My love story's about to begin, you guys.
So is that the single one? There's a single?
Yeah. Got it. And he's my favorite.
Was he? Okay.
He has a girlfriend, but he's not married.
So single. You're single until you're
married, right? And I reject your idea. I will
not dress as Cupid and walk in with a little border.
I'm not going to do that. I was really
hoping you were going to do that. All right, we'll talk.
We'll talk. We'll talk. We'll still
ahead. Keeping it simple doesn't mean it needs to be boring.
We got Palermo's here with a grueler
spin on dinner. I think we're going to like this one.
It's pizza. We'll be right back.
Well, you are going to spend less time cooking
and more time watching the game. So why not keep
dinner just really easy this week? Oh, for sure.
Rebecca Schimke is here from Palermo's,
the official frozen pizza of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Rebecca, good morning to you. Thank you
for having me. You are in the perfect position to do this,
to have this partnership, because you
guys are located a stone's throw away from the ballpark.
Yeah, we are. So you can walk, you were
saying, from work to a Brewers game. We do a lot, yeah.
Good, that's wonderful. So walk us through
some of your offerings here and your ideas
for dinner this week, because I think everyone's
going to be too tired to cook.
Yeah, so Palermo's and all the pizzas that we make, we're the official
frozen pizza of the Milwaukee Brewers
so there's no better way to celebrate and watch the game
and on game three we want to rally
and what better way uh we've got some on our screen in sicilian we
have punch out mustaches
so you can channel your inner rally fingers this really is a part of
the box or John Axford this is so funny they all come
for Bernie pop out Bernie and Joey Ortiz
so you can really cheer on the Brewers you've got the punch out little
so you put this in your
and you're a little nosy there
and it'll hang like a like you can wear them see like a mold
Are you doing it perfect? Yeah, okay, let me try
that you can put it in there. Oh, what if my my
nose might be not the right... well, I think we'll oh
wait I got it, I don't know that I want to force
I got it, it looks great, wait
who am I? Well, you can be Bernie, perfect Joey, or Joey RT
pick your favorite brewer, match your mustache
do people ever like send you photos of them
wearing these mustaches all the time.
And the thing that's the most fun is people even put it
in their dog's noses. Oh, I'm doing that with Zobrist.
Which makes a very cute picture. But
here we go. You guys can have a slice and share our brewers
We love a little breakfast pizza.
So what do you find are the most popular items
this time of year? I'm sorry. Oh gosh, I'm going
to keep it in. I'm committed. It's hilarious
Well, our Screamin' Sicilian is our number one
brand and Holy Pepperoni really knocks it out
of the park with all these piles of pepperoni, it's
an overtopped premium pizza, I feel like that's
my one complaint typically when you get um a frozen
pizza that it doesn't have enough
but that's it, doesn't have enough pep, but that's not the case
with this, you guys really make sure that every inch
of this pizza is covered, it's layered in it
absolutely, and how did the partnership kind
of come about here because I imagine it's a huge
honor to be the official frozen pizza of the Brewers, we
are longtime partners with the Brewers
The Palermos likes to support the community.
We do all that we can.
And being a partner with our local sports teams
is one way that we like to do it.
That's awesome.
Beautiful.
I do love, so everyone does like the playoff beard and,
you know, like the facial hair.
Like it's a good luck charm.
And this is how we can now participate.
Right.
We can just get dinner and then we now have our facial hair.
Because the ladies were sort of out of luck with that one.
We did a poll last week that showed like 40% of our viewers have
a playoff beard, which I think goes very well into No Shave November.
Yes.
So you can just be rocking the mustache for the rest of the year.
And you can take me seriously right now.
It looks beautiful.
Oh, I love this.
This is some of the stashes being represented.
This is perfect.
Now, where can folks find your pizzas?
At your local grocery store.
Anywhere?
In the freezer section all over Milwaukee
and throughout the state of Wisconsin.
And you guys have more than just pizza.
I can see here you've got cheesy bread.
You've got like, so you can do an app with Palermo's.
Yeah, we have our loaded breadsticks,
which are a great start to your dinner.
We have our stuffed crust pizza with over two
and a half feet of cheese in the crust.
If you like a thin crust, you can go with thin and crispy
or our original buttery stone-fired crust with our holy pepperoni.
And if you're trying to get the full collection of stashes here,
you need to buy different products
because they each come with something different.
Exactly. They each come with their own style of mustache.
Are you sure you don't want to put this one on?
I could probably try this one.
The other one didn't fit, and I didn't want to force it.
I was like, I don't know if I want to shove this in there.
But yeah, this is such a good idea.
Congratulations to you and your team for coming up with it.
I feel like it's probably hard to come up with like fun,
promotable, you know what I
mean?
Ideas to get people excited about your product,
excited about the World Series.
This is brilliant.
Yeah.
One of my favorite things to do when I'm,
I call it like lazy cooking, is I'll like
buy garlic breadsticks like that.
And then you just like sprinkle some of your
own parm and a little red pepper on there
and it's like, you cooked.
It's like you cooked.
Oh, I don't even do that.
Like, if you're coming over for a watch party at my house,
it's just going to be the frozen pizza.
Keep it in the box.
Well, that's the great thing about Screamin'
Sicilian is you don't need to add anything.
We have tons of toppings.
You really do.
It's so good.
Okay, how are we feeling?
Game three is tonight.
I imagine we're Brewers fans.
Absolutely.
I feel like it couldn't have gone better so far for us.
What's your prediction?
Sweep?
Sweep.
It's got to be.
That would mean tomorrow.
Yeah.
Which is so exciting.
Celebrate with some pizza.
At your watch party.
Perfect idea for that.
Exactly.
Especially since with all these watch parties,
we're now, we have people who have been hosting
people like four nights in a row now.
Why don't you guys, like, it really, it fits all noses here.
I love that.
I love that.
I got to get mine in here.
I'm actually very impressed, and it's the perfect time.
We're going to go in there.
I got it.
We're getting ready for Halloween.
Oh, we did it.
Nicola joining the stash party.
You know, it's comfortable, too.
It's not bad.
Maybe I'll do the 11 with this thing.
The perfect addition to your watch party.
I don't know if anyone's taking it seriously.
So good.
All right, more real Milwaukee coming up next.
Pizza, it's
delicious.
Okay.
So good. So you guys know how we have front row, Amy?
Of course. She's a staple in the Brewer Stands.
Well, the Rays have their own version of that.
A good luck fan, you could say.
Jack Critchfield, the 93-year-old former utility executive,
helped bring the Rays to the Tampa Bay area back in the 1990s.
And Jack and his wife, Mary,
have sat behind home plate for every opening day since 1998.
That was when the Rays came to Tampa.
But the season ticket holders attend about 78 games a year.
That is some serious dedication.
They've built a family at the stadium,
getting to know fellow fans and stadium staff.
Just listen to what they had to say.
We know a lot about people's lives more than sometimes
you even know about your own family members.
Oh, I love that.
They're so cute, aren't they?
Well, Jack and Mary are going to be in their seats for game three.
I'm wondering if the players start to recognize them.
Like, oh, hey, look, it's Jack and Mary.
You know what I mean?
Oh, for sure.
They're like staples there.
Look at them.
They're in the first pitch.
What's so cool about the World Series is now we can be introduced to,
you know, some of these Tampa Bay Rays fans
and you can fall in love with their stories.
I mean, that is so cool.
Also, that last video showed some footage
of what Hurricane Milton did to Tropicana.
And I also feel like what a cool story of resilience and rebuilding
and now one season into being back at the Tropicana,
you're in the World Series.
And I'm sure that this just means so much to that city.
Oh, for sure.
All right, a little bit of a World Series rivalry
is brewing off the field as well.
The craft beer scene in St. Petersburg,
Florida, home of the Rays, has exploded.
So breweries, they are ready to welcome fans from up north.
They say they are no slouch when it comes to suds,
and the tap rooms are not intimidated
by Milwaukee's reputation as the brew city.
From Pilsners to IPAs to Imperial Stouts,
we have some of the best Imperial Stouts
in the world here in Tampa Bay,
which is not necessarily something
that people would think of right away.
But lagers, yeah, we got them beat. We can take it.
I think this is the perfect beer drinking weather,
and this is where everyone in Milwaukee is going
to want to be for the next six to eight months.
This is kind of reminding me, remember the World Cup
when it was on the East Coast and they ran out of beer?
Yes.
Because people were drinking so much beer.
It was like the Irish fans were like, literally, we ran out of beer.
I feel like that may happen when we go to Tampa.
You bring the Milwaukeeans into Tampa.
What a way for our fans to feel so right at home.
It's like, oh, you've got beer for us.
Do we have home field advantage?
I think this might make home field advantage even in Florida.
I am interested to see that aquarium that they have.
Isn't that kind of odd?
You know what I mean?
I think it's the coolest thing.
That's one of the reasons why I want to go to the Trop at some point
is to see the rays that they have.
They have basically, for folks at home
who don't know what we're talking about,
they have like a ray aquarium that's like right in the ballpark.
It's in the stands.
It's like etched out.
I think it's right by the warning track.
It's crazy.
So anyways, that's like our team mascots get to watch over them.
You know what?
We'll ask Ted about that.
Maybe he'll, you know, get in there.
Not in there with the ray.
You know, he's been doing that.
Ted's been doing the boop with Barry Ray.
Maybe he'll do a boop with the ray.
I don't know if they'd like that, but I guess we'll find out.
Only one way to find out.
All right.
Ted Perry would do it.
Yes.
Hopefully we get some good vibes going into tonight.
Oh, look at the prop.
They're getting the field ready.
Looking good.
What would it be like, a boop ray?
I don't know if I want to do that.
Do they bite?
