Days away from Halloween,
and one Montgomery County home has made the scary transformation
to a terrifying wonderland of witches, vampires, and skeletons.
Oh, my.
Our very own brave Gwen Talbert, live today in Silver Spring,
to show us what's in store this year at the Catalina Haunt.
Hey, Gwen.
Well, you know what?
I'm telling you, Kenneth, you have to be brave to be out here.
Because if you look around me,
there are creatures from all over the place.
And the homeowner here, Holly, is with me.
Holly, you do this every year.
I mean, I get scared every time I come.
Tell me about when you started and what about all this?
So I started this about 15 years ago.
Started out with two or three little animatronics,
and it just blew up from there.
Every year we have more and more people come out.
It's just so great for the families
and the kids to have a great time every night.
Now tell me, how many characters do you have?
About 150 to 200 animatronics, lights,
little trinkets that go off in the night.
And how long does it take you to put this all together,
And like when do you even start?
So it takes me a month to set everything up.
I start pulling everything out Labor Day weekend,
and I'm usually finished the first weekend in October.
Well, we were here earlier in the daytime, but at nighttime, I mean,
it really does come alive, so to speak, with all the characters.
Now, you have some new items this year.
I do.
I got the girl with the pumpkin head in the cornfield, I got the spider
and I got a new demon
okay so you know that you get in terms of feedback
from the kids that come here oh they love it I
have kids from two years old that come here
and they don't want to leave at night we got to bribe
their parents to take them away okay well tell me now
when can people come and enjoy it so
Wednesday, Thursday from 6:45 p.m. until 8, on Friday until 8:30
and Halloween until 9.
All right, you heard it.
Come on out here.
We've got the messages for you.
Back to you guys.
I'm going to try to stay alive, okay?
Please, Gwen, we need you.
Also scary, her electricity bill.
