Alvin Tedjo wins Mississauga mayoral race
Oct 27, 2026
We have major breaking news out of Mississauga.
The city has elected its new mayor.
This is the city's eighth mayor and his name is Alvin Tedjo.
He managed what some would call
a come from behind victory.
All the polls throughout this campaign in the early days
had the incumbent or the former mayor.
That would be Carolyn Parrish or Bonnie Crombie
as the front runners in this campaign.
But as the months went on, Alvin Tedjo continued to rise
through various data sets,
eventually getting a projected win by CBC News today.
This marks a major change for the city of Mississauga.
Alvin Tedjo ran a campaign focused largely on affordability.
That was one of the big campaign issues
voters raised throughout the last few weeks.
Mr. Tedjo says he is going to freeze
property taxes for the first two years
and then bring in a system for seniors to be able to defer their taxes.
That's one of the many promises he's pledging
in his first days as mayor,
which are to come.
Again, CBC News projecting Alvin Tedjo has become
the new mayor of Mississauga.
