2 Video Views·Oct 27, 2026
God, do I love Richard.
I was just thinking about Richard the other day,
looking at photos of Harry.
I shared Harry.
There's me and Richard.
God, Richard had a real thing for me.
And I for Richard.
I was looking around this old YouTube channel
I used to have,
and I found an interview in my old radio studio,
me and Richard Simmons.
Oh my God, did we have fun.
And he always came to play.
Access Hollywood Live, the daytime show I did,
had Richard on as a guest all the time.
Do we have that, Harry?
Do we have that old interview?
look in the file uh if we have the interview i remember there
was a little moment we had him on
Access Hollywood Live if we have you ready
to go roll it in Richard Simmons playing a guest
this is all this is my life i don't have a person
in my life i don't have children i live alone with
my two housekeepers and i work i get up at four
o'clock in the morning 4 30 and i work because
i believe i can beat this i believe that the more i go out there
and become the Johnny Apple
seed of health after almost four decades i believe
that people can turn this around
everyone can turn this around richard what kind
of slob are you that you have two housekeepers
is this you and your two housekeepers
can you just pick up after yourself a little bit he's so mad
anyway i um get him richard you can have
as many housekeepers as you want he goes and it's just me
and i just live alone with my two housekeepers
and i just don't and i do my thing excuse me
you live alone with two housekeepers.
Richard and I used to go after each other all the time.
There is an all-time story.
I don't know if I've shared it with you, and sometimes I repeat,
but if you have not heard it, it's pretty great.
We had Richard Simmons on that very show. I don't
think that was the episode. He came back
a different time, but it was also the day we
had Howie Mandel on the show.
And Howie was in a particularly punchy mood, and he was going after
Richard. He was being mean to Richard.
And Richard's a fragile soul. But Howie was like,
you're still wearing the dolphin shorts.
You still wear those little tank tops. You got that little
hair teased up like that.
You're still you haven't evolved, he's saying. And I was like, I don't
think we want Richard to evolve.
Howie, what are you talking about? Richard got so upset. And we
were in the first segment of the show
and he got up off the couch and he said, I won't be here with
him and he walked off the set
and i said oh my god i thought we were going to continue having
fun with Richard and Howie we had
and Howie really upset him and Richard walked off and down
the hallway out of the studio down the hallway
and into the wardrobe room where the wardrobe
gals were you know laying out everything and and richard
when there was a back closet and he slid
the door open to the closet
and he went back in there with all the all the dresses and all the
clothing, and there was a little bench in there,
and he sat down in the wardrobe closet, and he
closed the door, and he wouldn't come out.
So we go into the commercial break, and I'm saying,
what are we going to do? This is, you know,
just continue the show with Howie, or do we try and
resurrect? I say to Randy, the cameraman,
and to the director, Stephanie Medina, I say, Stephanie,
I need the camera in the hallway.
Randy, can you run a cable down the hallway? Let's go into the
wardrobe room where richard is and i'll take it back
from commercial there okay randy grabs the
cable and they have a you know a gaffer
and he helps him get him down and we get into the
into the wardrobe room the camera comes running
in and i'm positioned outside behind me is the
wardrobe closet door and we come back
from commercial welcome back to Access Hollywood
live if you're just joining us now uh well we've had
a lot of drama uh it's been uh it's been
quite a feisty morning.
Howie Mandel, who's still sitting on set out there, has upset our other
guest, Richard Simmons. And Richard is indignant and he will not.
He is right behind me. Behind
this door is Richard and he won't come out.
He is in the closet and will not come out of the closet.
the irony. And so I say, Richard, Richard,
I want you to come out of this closet right now.
You have people out there depend on you, right?
There's people, they're struggling with their
weight. Maybe they're struggling with loneliness.
I don't know what it is, but something. And you,
you're their spirit animal.
You lift their spirits and you're a national treasure, Richard.
I'm not coming out
Richard do you realize we're on live
television right now and I'm telling the audience
is all dying for you
to come out because they
count on you to inspire them now I want you
to come out of this closet right now
I'm not doing it he's awful
he's so mean
I said listen we will make Howie
I think Howie has an apology ready for you
that's and you deserve
it but I need you to come out
no and then I said oh ----
this isn't going so well I gotta get
So the door is like, the sliding door, he's locked it from inside.
I put my lips right up against the, where the door meets the wall.
I get in like this, and I go,
Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy.
And I let it sit.
And then Richard goes,
Sunshine on my shoulder makes me cry.
I said, there's my guy, sunshine on my shoulder.
and then together we're singing and the door slides open
and he's looking at me like I can
do this and we walk out together
and Randy the cameraman is backing up down the hallway and bang
he goes through the door like that the gaffers
are opening it for him and we back all the way
out to this set and we return and we sit down
and I say Howie do you have something you'd like to
say to Richard and Howie says Richard I'm terribly
sorry I think I said something that was hurtful
and you're a beautiful person and I regret it.
And I learned something valuable today.
And I said, Harry, now there we go.
Richard, fine.
And off we went.
Now, how about that?
Beautiful moment with Richard Simmons.
God, do I miss that?
Oh, what a sweetheart.
Lindsey Clancy, some news there.
We're getting ready for November 2nd,
which is a Monday, the day before midterm mayhem.
We're gonna get all the rulings
on the outstanding motions for Lindsey
but Judge Sullivan ruled on one of them yesterday.
The defense motion, he denied
Kevin Reddington's request for an evidentiary hearing
on the holdout juror from the trial,
remember that?
So either Michael Desronville's juror questionnaire held up
or he isn't interested
in pursuing that any further.
Both sides wanted rulings on a handful of motions.
That's what they talked about on September 29th,
including Big Red's motion asking the
judge to find her not guilty,
based mostly on the dereliction of duty by the holdout
juror guy, before they want all the answers
on these before the retrial date that Sully
was trying to set.
So the next date on the docket is November 2nd,
that's a Monday, and then they'll find
out if there's gonna be a retrial.
But remember, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz has
not decided whether or not he's
gonna retry Lindsey Clancy,
or if he's gonna pursue lesser charges, which would allow for
a bench trial.
Kevin Reddington will obviously not choose a bench trial.
You just had 11 to 1, so why wouldn't you?
You would think your chances of a 12
and 0 would be pretty good after that.
But what I don't understand is like,
how do you find an impartial jury here, right?
You would think that the district attorney might drop all of this.
And Kevin Reddington has not said whether
or not he's had lead discussions with Tim
Cruz, but an impartial jury at this point in that area,
in any area, in any town, forget
that county.
Everybody knows Lindsey Clancy.
Everybody saw Clancy on 60 Minutes.
That was big ratings.
Anyway, what it all means, it's everything comes down to November 2nd.
The motion to dismiss, plus, you know,
the defense request to preserve the juror records,
produce the juror questionnaire, make a limited inquiry into the juror.
That's all, you know.
But as Sully said, he's not he's not pursuing the juror.
So hopefully for Reddington,
he can just get either Tim Cruz to drop it or he can get a
dismissal, you know, thanks to double jeopardy,
retrying the case all again, you know, and
Maybe maybe lobby the judge, Judge Sullivan, to just say, you know,
it's clear that this juror was didn't follow instructions.
And so I'm going to declare her not guilty. Maybe that happens.
Whatever the exception, of course, if the judge declares
a mistrial without real need, the legal term is manifest necessity.
A retrial can be barred.
So anyway, Lindsay Clancy, November 2nd.
