Exiting a meeting that lasted
for almost three hours with the Prime Minister,
representatives of the student movement gave their first impressions.
I think today we can say that we've obtained something.
We can be pleased with these announcements.
One method worked, and that was dialogue.
Among the new measures,
fifth-year secondary school classes have been capped at 28 pupils,
meaning that 500 teachers' jobs will be created.
Why only in fifth year?
What about those where there are exams
and can have 36 pupils in one classroom?
A one-hour lunch break will be enforced in the lycee.
It should be normal to have an hour to eat.
I find it obvious.
And 4 billion euros will be lent at an advantageous rate
to regional authorities for building renovations.
The solution is to have the means to pay for the work that needs doing.
We're determined, but we need the means today. Loans aren't a priority.
Meanwhile, universities will receive a billion euros for works,
and 15,000 extra places will be made available for students.
It's a good start, but they've only scratched the surface.
Like they haven't completely understood what we want.
It's good to have more places,
but if there are no jobs afterwards, then what's the point?
Pressure is set to continue with more protests planned for next week.
